Program:creating Dragon Boats

Tsung-Tse is a symbol for the Dragon Boat Festival in China. It is originally the name of a food served during the festival made from rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves. Its attractive shape is later used for decorative purposes by women and children who make colorful silk windings on three-dimensional paper folding. Dragon Boats were fashionable in the ancient courts as elaborate wrappings for important gifts.  We will be creating these Dragon Boats with modern materials and embellishments! Join Us!

Regular Meetings and Programs

10:00 a.m. the second Saturday of each month
except June, July, August, and December - member's only activities.

Summer is the perfect time to stay indoors and weave.  Come September share your weaving experiences, hear tales of Convergence 2010 in Albuquerque, and learn how to create Dragon Boat Ornaments. These Dragon Boats will be sold at the Riverside Arts Market in October as we celebrate National Spinning & Weaving Week. In November, we’ll be back at the Southside Regional Library with lots of warped looms for hands-on exploration. December is our private holiday party where the gift exchange presents wonderful handmade items. Then it’s 2011 and we’ve 5 more months of weaving guild activities!
