Lovely, esp. "Daughter of the Moon."
‘Brad’ lives with his dog, 'Bear', in the Twin Cities, and teaches English in St. Paul. While he writes in other genres, his lifelong passion has been poetry. He says, "I believe poetry is the most challenging, yet the most rewarding form of written expression. The writer is challenged to combine the elements of rhyme, rhythm, economy of wording and message to come together in one piece that speaks loudly to every reader. I have found teaching the craft of writing to be far easier than perfecting it myself. The very act of publishing made me acutely aware of my shortcomings as a writer – but, I believe, helped me to become a better writer in the processes of editing, revision and publication."
Father of four 'amazing' children, Brad finally had the time to collect and refine work from the past few years and distill it into this volume of verse. In the past he has held writing workshops on San Juan Island, WA, related to the resident pods of Orca whales that ply the waters next to Lime Kiln Point. "I became acutely aware of the huge emotional impact these whales had on many tourists and local residents, alike. Each of them has a unique story to tell, and as I began collecting their stories in poetic form, I began to realize the transformational power of these individual experiences. I couldn't resist writing a few of my own. In the future, I hope to publish the various works I began collecting from the workshops, and hope to return this summer to finish the task."
