Descendants of William Slaydon and Susannah FlippinMy
Slaton ancestor was my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton who married Joseph Harrison.
Susan's father was Thomas Fielden Slaton who was the first Slaton into Jefferson
County, Tennessee in about 1846. The family moved to Tennessee from Stokes County,
North Carolina. The family's roots were across the state line in Pittsylvania
County, Virginia. Thomas was the son of William Slaydon and Susannah Flippin.
There are numerous spelling variations, but the spelling in Jefferson County
became more or less standardized as Slaton. Thomas's parents and most of his
siblings followed him from North Carolina to Tennessee between 1850 and 1860.| Table of Contents | |
