A Little History

(To the left is a photo of Realization sailing on Long Island Sound with her original owner, Al Aversa, at the helm.)

She was launched in May 1986 and christened by her original owners Cappuccino. Her present proud owners, Catherine Monaghan and Bruce Halley of Rahway, New Jersey, took ownership of her in April 1995 and re-christened her Realization.

Al and his wife are members of the Harlem Yacht Club on City Island, New York. Cappuccino spent her summers on a yacht club mooring while she wasn't sailing, and spent her winters on the hard in Haverstraw, New York. Cappuccino was their 4th Cape Dory. They put her up for sale when they decided it was time for a bigger boat. Their new old boat is a Hans Christian 33.

Cappuccino made the journey from Haverstraw down the Hudson River to Long Island Sound via the East River and vice versa every year until we took possession of her in 1995. The Aversa's sailed her extensively on Long Island Sound as far as Martha's Vineyard.
