Saiya walked through the falling cherry blossoms, past the green roofed red pagoda. It's golden guardian dragons gazed impassively down at her. Unfamiliar droplets spangled her lashes. She brushed them aside distractedly.
Te' had left with out a word, without warning. Ripping apart her soul. He had gone back to his own world, his own people. Would he ever return to Earth? Or would he find someone there, someone worthy of a prince. A female of his own people full of power and pride. A fierce warrior woman.
Something she could never be. Her calling was to bring life not death. To renew, rebuild and regenerate.
She stopped on the mossy river bank. Staring at the rushing water, it sung a seductive song that promised her forgetfulness. Spray speckled the tiny mossy fronds like teardrops.
She had come here to make a decision. With a single step she could end this, end her sorrow, her painful loneliness.
Half her soul had gone with him, the pain was nearly unbearable. Her grief tore wounds into her fragile new soul. If she entered the river she would revert.
When she first saw Te', he had piqued her interest, stirred her half human heart into feeling. His fair aspect and tormented soul had brought emotions to her, stirred her human half into life. Then the touch of his hand had awoke her love. It had bound her to him with an unbreakable bond, even if he didn't feel anything.
Now Saiya was trying to decide whether or not to end her sorrow, her pain. The sound of water softly called to her.
But she had lost her immortality in that same moment she had found love, it was the price a fairy paid when they bonded with a mortal.
She had lost her distance, her remoteness. But if she returned to the river she might regain it.
But what if Te' returned, what then?
If Te' did return would he even look at her? Their first encounter had been a disaster. Because of it he didn't trust her. She had tried to explain, and even professed her love. But Te' didn't believe her words, he hardly spoke to her. Practically avoided her.
Saiya made her decision, even without immortality the river was better than this sad forlorn loneliness.
She started to step forward into the water. But then it happened. A soft surration of sound. A hand descended to her shoulder and turned her away from the water.
It was Te', his long hair was caught in a tail behind his broad muscular shoulders, all except the two strands that always fell in front of his cerulean eyes. His tight battle uniform enhanced his well built body, delineating every well scuplted line.
But there was an odd look on his face. "Saiya." was all he said. Then he took her in his arms and murmured softly into her ear. "I felt so..,empty. And then someone told me that Kami had said that you were what I needed."
His cerulean eyes sparkled down at her. "No one should ever doubt the word of a god."
Te' pulled her closer and his tail curved, twining around them both, linking them together. His lips descended to her's capturing them, and the bond was completed.
Saiya and Te' were one, now and forever.
