Welcome, this is my info page, here is where you will find info, both factual and and speculatory about DB/Z/GT. But first we'll start with the facts about me, Saiyana. I'm a 52 year young grandmother. I've been happily married to the same man for 32 years. We have two sons and one grandson.
"You forgot gorgeous." Says 'Geta as he comes in and looks over my shoulder at the screen.
I blush modestly, "I can't say that!"
"I know, that's why I'm saying it." Replies the Prince,"You're putting things into words for me because I can't say them myself, I can certainly do the same for you."
"Perhaps," I reply as I lean back against him feeling his hard abs behind my head, "but just because something is true here in our private reality. It may not be so in others."
"Reality is based on personal perception." Says 'Geta, "You taught me that, so your own perception of yourself is all that really matters."
"But to others, I'm only an attractive older woman."
"The perception of your ownself defines what matters. You taught me that." He shrugs, "Who cares what others think, while you are here with me, you are as young, and beautiful as you see yourself, and as I see you here."
I smile at him, "You don't have to say that 'Geta, but thanks love."
Back to the facts.
I met my husband while we were both enlisted in the USAF. We remained part of the service
for over twenty years. Which makes both our sons Air Force brats. Besides serving our
country, I've volunteered for several charity groups over the years, Red Cross, Family
Services, Boy Scouts, as well as working for several clubs. Social and fan. (See I'm not as
ditzy as I may seem, I do have a very real life.)
I have always been interested in numerous scientific subjects, anthropology, geology, astronomy, archaeology, psychology, as well as several of the arts, both literate, cerebal; prose, and poetry after all I do consider myself to be a writer! :) And mechanical, hands on; music and artistic.
I've been a science fiction/fantasy fan for over 38 years. I like DB/Z/GT of course, along with several other anime series and manga. My other particular favorites are InuYasha, Rurouni Kenshin, Tenchi Muyo, Ranma 1/2, Oh (&Ah) My Goddess, Lum, Blue Seed ('cause Eric's voice is featured in it!) and the most recently discovered (at least by me) Jubei Chan - Secret of the Lovely Eyepatch, and VanDread. So you can see that my tastes run towards the humorous action adventures with a hint of sexual innuendo.
I'm also a big Star Trek fan, I've watched it from the first ever broadcast episode and I hold the rank of R.Adm. in Starfleet, I am the founder and current First Officer of our local Starfleet chapter.
My favorite science fiction authors are Andre Norton, Ann McCaffrey, Arthur C. Clarke, Robert Heinlien, David Weber, Laura Resnick, Mercedes Lackey and the godfather of science fiction, Edgar Rice Burroughs. I enjoy numerous others as well, and can say that my sci-fi and fantasy library is huge, to say the least. I've also collected classic comics over the years, X-men, Spiderman, Superman, Action Comics, Tarzan (all of them including Dell, Gold Key, Marvel, DC, etc...). I have just started building my Manga Library.
I'm a Master Costumer on the local Star Trek Convention circuit, with several trophies and awards to my credit. I was the Rennissance Queen in our local faire a couple of years ago and am now a permanent Duchess of our kingdom, serving on the Faire Committee.
I'm doing this because I have seen pages that are called info but have obvious specualtory or assumptive parts. With facts, that I cannot locate in any of my researches (Oh! did I forget to mention that I was a student librarian for six years, so I do know proper research technics!)
I am not saying any of those facts are incorrect (such as things like Vegeta' mother's name, it is just that I have been unable to locate any supported data on her). So until I can verify them, they will not be included in my Info page.
As to the referenced speculations, I have tried to base them on the known facts and
observations I have made while watching the series or reading the manga. For example, Cell's
primary genetic make-up. Or the strange uncanny resemblance of Raditz, Prince Vegeta, and
King Vegeta even though Raditz stated unequivocally that he was Kakarot's brother. Which is
highly unusal since it's apparent that most Saiyan sons tend to strongly resemble their male
parents. So I'm warning you now and I admit fully that some of the information you will find
here is the result of theoretical speculations, but they are based on well known established
facts and scientific observations, (if you can do that with anime characterizations! )
;)
So I am sorry for the long winded explanation but I don't want to confuse any newbies.
Since this site is dedicated to our Favorite Prince, Vegeta, we'll just naturally start with him, and then slowly (and rather meaderingly) work our way through the various characters and races that comprise the DB Universe. :)
"About time woman." Says the Prince.
I glance over at him, he's sitting on the couch still watching me. "You remember the deal, 'Geta. You can stay and watch but no talking!"
He grunts but then nods in assent.
(The Prince glares at me and I blow him a kiss. -* He scowls as he pretends to hate the nickname but from the sparkle in his eye I really know he does.)
Anyway--Vegeta is the Prince of All Saiyans (as his royal sexiness is always reminding everyone!)
(There's the sound of a grumh! in the background).
He is the last Crown Prince of the Saiyan race. And would have become king, if Freiza hadn't destroyed his people and his planet.
He was born on planet Vegeta, which had been renamed this after the Saiyans conquered and subjegated the Tuffles who ruled it initially.
Vegeta was the son and heir of King Vegeta the leader of the entire Saiyans race, who until encountering Frieza was a strong effective leader of his warlike people. Nothing is known about Vegeta's mother (so everything I've written about her, including her name, is pure speculation.)
Vegeta was taken from his home at a very young age (about five in Earth years) by Frieza. He was held as a hostage to insure the obedience of his race.
Not much is known about his life at this time, as the Prince is rather reticent about talking about it. Although it is known that at the time he had two companions, Raditz and General Nappa.
They had come in search of another Saiyan, the renegade fratricide Kakarot who now called himself Goku. The Prince was ready to avenge Raditz and complete the mission that Kakarot had not accomplished.
A mighty battle ensued between the two Saiyans and the defenders of Earth. But even at that time the Prince exhibited a strange dichotomy of actions towards his foes.
First allowing the defenders a chance to take on the cultivars one on one, instead of sending them enmasse, as he restrained Nappa. Then doing little to aid his gigantic companion when he was attacked by the remaining warriors. He also displayed more than a passing interest in the defenders abilities to control and sense ki.
And although the Prince seemed fully determined to destroy the Earth's defenders and find Kakarot, it was also apparent that he could care less about what happened to Nappa. At one point he was actually encouraging them to defeat his companion.
Then when he realized that the defenders were merely fighting a delaying action, as it were as they anxiously awaited Goku's immenent arrival. Vegeta even allowed for a truce period, much to Nappa's disgust. Thus permitting Kakarot the time to come to join his allies and gave the battered Earth warriors an extended breathing space.
Once restored to health the Prince resumed his quest, having confirmed of the power of the Dragonballs and knowing of their true origins. He went in search of them on planet Namek hoping to obtain the immortality he needed to fulfilled his dreams of immortalityand vengance. But Frieza had been also been appraised of power of the fabled Dragonballs and had preceeded the Saiyan Prince to Namek, seeking them for the same purpose.
Vegeta was now finally in full rebellion against Frieza. He arrived on Namek and began his own search for the Dragonballs, determined to prevent Frieza from having them.
It was on Namek that he first encountered Bulma. He was attracted to her immediately, even referring to her as a gorgerous female, but at that point he was completely focused on his quest for immortality. Eventually he reluctantly joined forces with Krillian and Gohan against the Ginyu Force. And then allied with Kakarot.
Although killed in the resultant battle with Frieza, Vegeta was restored to life by the same wish that revived most of the previously killed Namekians. He was also transferred to Earth with them just before Namek exploded. After arriving on Earth he eventually settled down there, and now with the other Z fighters, helps them, even if reluctantly, to protect and defend his adopted homeworld.
He is the only other Saiyan who has accomplished both stages of Oozura (normal and golden) as well as the four known levels of Super Saiyan, (the last was accomplished with the technological aid of his wife's genius).
Vegeta eventually mated with and then married Bulma. He fathered two children on her, Trunks and Bra. His other known descendant is Vegeta Jr. who fought Goku Jr.
The Saiyans are a humanoid mammalian type race, endowed with a prehensile tail. This tail was an important factor in Saiyan development. It contained a highly specialized gland that under proper conditions caused a Saiyan to transform into their ultimate battle form. Saiyans deprived of this appendage were unable to perform this transformation into the great Oozura or giant killer ape.
The tail was extremely sensitive and vulnerable, (grasping the untstrengthened tail of a Saiyan could render him virtually helpless). While removing it from the Oozura form caused immediate reversion to normal. So all Saiyan warriors were extremely careful to protect this vital appendage(often wrapping it about their waists like a furry belt).
But what has recently become apparent is that with proper intensive training, tailess Saiyans (whether by nature or accident) may not be as handicapped as once believed. They seem to be able to acquire an equally compensating ability. One that allows them to attain the much more powerful (and once believed mythic) Super Saiyan form. Perhaps this is due to a redirection of the still inherent Oozura strength? Note; that all known Super Saiyans, primarily Kakarot (Goku), Prince Vegeta, Gohan and Brolly, first attained this form only after losing their tails. As well as the fact that, Trunks and Goten who were apparently born tailess are also capable of this amazing transformation!
Also it needs to be noted that the inhabitants of the third planet of the Sol system, seem to be able to actually breed true with the remaining Saiyans, (Gohan's tail!) which is in itself highly unusual.
There are no known surviving in depth cultural studies on the Saiyans. Although it can be assumed with almost complete certainity that the scientifically bent Tuffles did study them before being conquered.
It is well known that the Saiyans had arrived from space in strange round ball-like podships and quickly settled in the remote mountainous regions on planet Tuffle, only to live at first in very primitive seeming caveman-like enclaves.
Unfortunately all other records were lost in the planet's subsequent destruction by Frieza. What is known is that the Saiyans were a young warrior race. Appearing rather suddenly on the galactic stage after absorbing learning and adapting Tuffle technologies.
It is known that this was due to the unexpected emergence of a true social genius in the form of King Vegeta, their first and last true Monarch. He led his people away from their own brutish self destructiveness and redirected their considerable albiet violent energies into more constructive (at least for Saiyans) pursuits. Turning what could have been a fatal racial flaw into a valuable and lucrative asset. If he had survived, the universe might have eventually been ruled by the Saiyans.
Quickly gaining fame as powerful mercenary warriors, King Vegeta put his peoples ferocious nature and natural battle acumen to good use. As an army for hire they became rather well known throughout the galaxy in a very short period of time.
Due to this fame this several facts about the race are known but there are also numerous speculatory assumtions and misconception made, many erroneously, about the Saiyans.
For example; their known ferocity, has caused them to be considered brutal, cruel and almost beastial in nature by many of the more scientifically advanced species. Many authorities have sited the Saiyans' practice of discarding their less than adequeate offspring by callously sending them off into space as proof of primitive Saiyan barbarity. But if this was looked at in a different light, perhaps it indicates an extremely high level of morality.
If the Saiyans had truly been as barbaric and animalistic, as it is believed they would have merely destroyed the weaker members of their race at birth, without compunction. Instead of wasting time as well as precious resources to preserve and protect them by sending them off to safety. Certainly this would have been the more likely course of action, (as it has even been done by other more 'civilized' peoples!) If the Saiyans were really as immoral, cold, and bestial as has been assumed.
Unfortunately, the two surviving full blooded members of this race are not an adequate sampling to use for any type of viable research or cultural studies. As one was grieviously injured as an infant, which resulted in immediately obvious brain damage. While the other was removed (stolen) from his natural enviroment at a very young age and subjected to, admitted (the Prince indicates that unpleasant things 'happened' but refuses to discuss what these cruelties were) but undescribed abuses by the evil Tyrant Frieza and his henchmen.
The Saiyans successes quickly came to Frieza's attention. He hired them for several jobs, (pirating planets). Observing them carefully, Frieza recognized the unmeasured potential of this new race and quickly enslaved them. Securing his hold on the Saiyans by demonstrating his power to (and on) King Vegeta and taking possession of Prince Vegeta as hostage.
Frieza relentlessly used the Saiyans on the hardest assignments thinning their ranks by sending them to planets that had been far to difficult for his other troops to subdue.
Until he finally decided that even in their now depleted numbers they were still far too dangerous. So with his usual lack of compuction he descended on planet Vegeta and destroyed their homeworld slaughtering all remaining known Saiyans. Vowing to elimanate every last remaining member of the race. The only exceptions appear to be the three he had under his direct control, Prince vegeta Genreal Nappa and Raditz.
It is not known why he kept them, perhaps as curiousities, possible diversions, or perhaps for even more sinister reasons? Since it is known that Frieza had a taste for what most other races considered perversions. A well-known penchant for unrestrained cruelity and sadism, (Note the destruction and ultimate genocide of the Ritoian race) as well as a preference for strong attractive males of any species, the younger the better! (Perhaps the 'happenings' referred to by his surviving Saiyan 'guest'?)
Frieza's and his family's actual race and true sex, have always been a mystery. Even though Friezas 'father', 'King' Cold referred to the tyrant as 'his son' and Cooler referred to 'him' as 'his brother'. This does not necessarily mean they were actual true males. There are many asexual races, including the Namekians, that commonly use the male designation when referring to themselves. If the Frieza and his family were asexual, many of the labels of 'perversion' applied to their personal practices may not actually be true.
There have only been three known examples of this species (which I will refer to hereafter as the Tyrant Species) ever to have been observed. And though none of them were overtly obviously female, (though the third form is very feminine appearing). It could be that they were indeed all males, as had been assumed, since they continually referred to one and other in those terms, but as mentioned, it may have been merely a matter of custom and convenience.
But if the Tyrant Species were of an asexual nature, females would not exist. It could very well be that each member was totally capable of fully parenting 'his' own progeny, like the Nameks. With no one else required for reproduction. One individual would be capabale of under taking both the fertilzation and gestation.
But there could be yet another conclusion, one that could more fully explain many of their actions and their strangely ambigious behaviors, and their tastes for 'perversions' as well as the strange lack of a second gender (or even a gravid reproductive form).
This theory would also assume their asexuallity but also give logical explanations for several other things. Especially their apparent cruelty and exibiting characteristics of both genders (having extremely feminine traits at one moment and then exhibiting very masculine tendancies during others). As well as their obvious attraction to strength. These would all be advantages to and characteristics of a parasictic species!
The Tryant Species also had the highly unusual ability to make four distinct physical transformations.
They seemed rather reluctant to put this ability to use until forced to do so. And once in the next stage, they remained in that stage until they ascended to the next. Most transforming species have only two or at the most three dissimilar forms. (Note: Saiyans, actually have only have two forms, even though most people would assert that there were several more, in actuallity there are only two, the Super Saiyan and the Oozura each with merely increased (if immense) power levels available. SSJ4 is a really a blending of both forms and could make them seem as if they are a triple form species, when in reality they are not). Once depleted of energy most transient form species usually revert to back to a normal or original state.
Curiously, once a transformation was made by a member of the Tyrant Species they seemed unwilling (or was it unable?) to revert back to any of their previous form(s). (Let it be noted that Cooler's second appearance on New Namek was in a completely artifically constructed form, designed by him as a template. Possibly chosen because it was the form he was the most used to? Since only a few of his actual physical cells had survived his first battle with Goku.)
These three beings appeared several eons ago, out of nowhere, (perhaps emerging from another parallel universe?) They used their great strength to form a large army of the strongest warriors available (who also seemed to be the dregs of the universe!) At the head of this enormous horde they proceeded with a massive show of force (callously destroying several inhabitated systems), to establish themselves as the ultimate rulers of the known universe. Splitting it into three equal sectors. Each sector being independently ruled over by one member of this terrible triumvate.
This family became oppressive tyrants, each pursuing their own private secret agendas. It was known that Frieza and Cooler detested each other throughly and that their only known parent King Cold seemed to favor Frieza over Cooler.
The Four Forms of the Tyrant Species:
The initial form has only been observed in Frieza, this
is considered the weakest form (if that noun can ever
be used when referencing this extremely strong
species). It is the form that Freiza was first seen as
and remained in until his battles on Namek.
The second form was displayed by King Cold and Freiza
again while battling on Namek against the newly merged
Nail/Piccolo fusion.
The third form was displayed by both Freiza and Cooler,
this was Cooler's more recognizable form and the highest
form Freiza ever attained.
The final fourth or ultimate form was seen only in Cooler.
Why am I emphasising these forms? There is one mystery that has disturbed me for quite some time concerning Dr. Gero's bio-construct Cell. If all the primary DNA used in it initial construction came from Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Freiza and King Cold. Where did the obvious insectoid DNA come from?
Most would suggest that Piccolo was that source, but I disagree, Namekians are derived from gasteropods (slugs and snails) a completely different phylum, than that of arthropods (insects). And since Saiyans are mammalian, that only leaves Frieza and King Cold's genes to be the source of the contributing arthropodial DNA that Cell very obviously displayed, (i.e. specifically the nymph stage with it's discarded pupae case, discovered by Bulma, Trunks and Gohan during the android battles, as well as his wings and 'stinger').
So although Frieza, King Cold and Cooler had a reptilan or lizard-like outer appearances, they had to have had an arthropodial-like ancestor. Which was illustrated by their shedding parts of their carapaces during the certain stages of their transformations.
The differing transformations and resultant inablility to revert back could also lead to this conclusion. Especially if they were actually mirroring the various stages of insectoid developement, (i.e; 1-nymph, 2-pupua, 3-sub-adult and 4-fully mature adult.)
The initial form displayed would be the pre-adolescent stage (birth [hatching?]-to-ten in
corresponding human ages), this would explain Frieza's small stature, extremely childish
attitudes and mannerisms (also giving reason for King Cold's indulgent manner towards
Frieza.)
The second would be the adolescent stage (corresponding to ten to 18), it's larger more
formidable armor and defensive horns would have evolved to be used in the inevitable
dominance battles among the young. (In this form, as in many species, the later stages
would be fully capable of reproduction).
The third stage would be the sub-adult, (corresponding form twenty to fifty) the more gracile
form and smaller feminine seeming body could have been evolved to to better lull victims
and/or inspire the protective instincts in others.
The final form would be that of the fully mature adult fifty and up (though still capable of
reproduction), whose enormous size and arminature would have evolved to protect and
defend it's developing offspring.
It also appears that the Tyrant Species seemed to have the ability to consciously control the lengths of their developmental stages, being able to voluntarily transform at will (thus able to chose the form best suited for protecting it's young while they develope within the defenseless host bodies until the offspring can emerge and protect themselves).
In reference to their species reproduction methods. It would seem that if they were truly insectoid and asexual, as I believe, then they may have had a parasitic egg implantation method. Possibly similar to that of wasps, certain types of flies or spiders. That would explain their endless quest in seeking out the strongest warriors in the universe for their personal entourages. Certainly a self defeating action for true tyrants, who would normal course depose of such threats to their rule. The only logical explain for these actions would be if they were perhaps be seeking suitable hosts for their future offspring. The stronger the host the better it would be able to sustain and nourish their young. Their actions and choice of partners, (as a supposed sexual preferance for the generally stronger males) could easily be misconstrued as 'homosexual'. While their apparent sadistic cruelity could actually have been part of the normal host selection process, done to eliminate unsuitable weaker hosts! (Even to the point of genocide of species toatally unsuitable to their species use.) The members of the Tyrant Species would not have been attracted to anyone who was not strong enough to be a suitable host body for their offspring.
This brings us to Frieza himself.
Frieza was the ruler of the sector of the space that contained the Milky Way galaxy which contained planets Vegeta, Namek and Earth. His cruel tyranny, along with that of the other two members of his family, subjegated and had terrorized the entire universe.
Frieza was instrumental in destroying many planets, civilizations and cultures. His armies would move in depopulating whole planets and then sell the now empty but "ready for habitation" world to other races.
Frieza acquired numerous mercenary warrior races over the course of time, always seeking the strongest and determined to increase the size of his active army.
He always used the same tactics to gain control of these less sophistcated groups. Once located, he would approach the leader(s) of a promising war-like race, such as the Saiyans, with a very enticing offer of employment. He would have his new 'business partners' take out several easy objectives and then offer them a permanent allegiance. When the offer was accepted, he would come to visit in person, to 'attend to the details' himself. Upon arrival he would quickly either eliminate or secure some sort of hold over the ruler(s) of the culture. Taking over control and enslaving them, to be used against the other more savy races that would not be deceived by such tactics.
Frieza personal power was what made him such a formidable opponet. He had the shared ability to destroy planets with a single gesture with the rest of his family, the total destruction of both Vegeta and Namek are clear examples of this talent/P>
Frieza's cruelity and greed eventually lead to a fateful confrontation with Goku. Frieza had been seeking the Namekian Dragonballs, as were Prince Vegeta, Gohan. Bulma and Krillian, when this occured. Frieza's blood-thirsty actions finally awoke the full fury of Goku (Kakarot)'s Saiyan rage. This ultimately causing the tyrants downfall when Goku transformed into a (what until that time had been considered mythic) Super Saiyan, the first to emerge for over a thousand years.
The transformed Goku eventually defeated Freiza, restored and rescued the Namek race, with the help of his son and freinds, barely escaping the destruction of planet Namek. It was thought at the time that Freiza had been killed.
This turned out to be a misassumption.
King Cold came in search of his son shortly after the planet's destruction. He found what was left of Frieza and had him reconstructed as cyborg. Once fully 'restored' Frieza and King Cold proceeded to Earth seeking Goku and bent on vengance. They arrived only to be stopped by another mysterious Super Saiyan, Trunks who first destroyed their invasion forces and then killed Frieza. This prompted an offer of 'adoption' from King Cold, which Trunks, refused before killing King Cold.
Perhaps King Cold's offer was merely a ruse to bring Trunks under his influcence for other purposes (possible reproduction)?
Cooler was Frieza's brother, he appeared twice. Once on Earth also seeking vengenance and was soundly defeated by Goku. The second time he attacked New Namek, after having also been transformed into a cyborg (but perhaps a better term would be a living mechanism) by the Great Gette Star on New Namek. His defeat in this second incarnation took the combined Super Saiyan powers of both Goku and Prince Vegeta.
Now we come to Kakarot, or Goku as he calls himself.
"That clown hasn't a single shred of Saiyan pride, he won't even use his real name!" Says the Prince grumpily. (He's been so good sitting behind me quietly all this time watching silently!)
I swivel my chair around to face him. "I told you, you could watch 'Geta as long as you didn't interrupt me." I smile sweetly at him, "Unless you're willing to let me open up about your past with Frieza?"
His eyes narrow and with a pained scowl he shakes his head, no.
"Okay then please don't talk to me right now, love." I tell him as I turn back to the computer, "I have enough trouble concentrating when you're around me as it is. You're just too distracting."
"Then stop writing woman and pay attention to me!" He comes up behind me and puts his hands on my shoulders.
"Vegeta please not now." I start to shrug his hands off.
Suddenly an ominous rumble vibrates behind my head. I lean back and look up at him, "Why didn't you just tell me you were getting hungry!"
He grins down at me sheepishly. "Cause I'm not just hungry for food, my Saiyanna....." There's a telling gleam in his eye.
Sorry guys, I'm gonna be busy for a while. Bye.;).... .............
Awhile later I return to the key board dreamy eyed... ....."MMM, where was I?"
'Geta's husky voice murmurs beside my ear, "Kakarot."
I glance at him with a smile, "Thanks, love."
"I said don't call me that." But he smirks down at me as he says it, so I know he doesn't mean it.
"Okay back to work."
Kakarot, or Goku.
Kakarot or Goku was born on planet Vegeta, his father Bardock was a low-level fighter who
gained noteriety when he invented the Atmospheric Power Ball technique to materialize an
artificial moon, that could trigger the Ooruza transformation anytime. The name of his mother
is unknown (so the name I use in my story is my creation). Athough we do know that he had
an older brother named Raditz (curiously Radtiz bears a strong resemblance to the King of the
Saiyans as well as Prince Vegeta).
Kakarot's PP (Power Potential) was recorded as extremely low when he was first tested (which is very odd since his father, Bardock, had adequate numbers as did his older brother, Raditz). Because of these miniscule numbers Kakarot was sent off to conquer Earth (a planet that was judged to have few if any strong fighters to imperil such a low powered warrior) very soon after his birth. He was one of the last infants dispatched before Planet Vegeta's ulimate destruction by Frieza.
But it is quite possible that Kakarot was not as powerless as he had seemed at the time. For several years, amazing mutations had been occuring in the Saiyan race, (i.e.-Brolly and Prince Vegeta's almost unbelievably high power levels at birth as well as the Prince's incredible strategic talents and his father, King Vegeta's unexpected genuis for social manipulation. He raised his people from being mere rampaging cave dwellers to the level of effective galactic players.) It may be that Kakarot was a mutated Saiyan also, a natural power suppressor (there are several species where this is a known natural defense, and both his sons as well as Pan seem to have inherited this ability) as well as an almost supernaturally gifted fighter (an idiot savate as it were). It is now widely known that the original Saiyan spacepods had inadequate radiation shielding which is probably what led to these mutations.
Kakarot arrived on Earth and was found by an old retired martial artist named Gohan. An ascetic marital arts hermit who was living alone deep in the mountains. The kindly old man took the strange tailed child in, naming him Goku, because the infant had come from the sky.
Goku proved to be a difficult child to handle, gifted with incredible strength, he was prone to fits of unprovoked violence and wanton destruction. Even so the lonely old man grew quite fond of the strange boy and began to think of him in terms of the grandson he never had.
One day while, Goku was still quite small, when they were up in the mountains. The child had one of his violent outbursts. During the ensuing struggle the infant managed to elude Gohan's grasp and tumbled into an extremely deep gorge.
It took quite some time for the old man to reach the child, who he could see sprawled bonelessly bleeding on the jagged rocks below, as the trail was both treacherous and steep.
The broken-hearted Gohan was certain the boy was already dead, but determined to retreive his 'grandson's' body. When he finally reached Goku, he was amazed to discovered that although the child had several severe injuries including a life threatening fractured skull he wasstill clinging to teniously to life.
Carefully and tenderly the old man took the badly injured child home, fully expecting that Goku would not survive. The boy's injuries were numerous, but amazingly the child recovered fully. And even though it still took several long months, the boy healed with amazing rapidity, considering the severity and extent of his injuries. Goku still retains only a slight scar his head hidden beneath his hair, as only proof that the incident ever happened. It also appeared that once he had recovered his already immense strength had more than doubled.
But there was an even bigger change in the child, where once he had been violent and nearly uncontrollable, he was now sweet natured, gentle and obedient. Instead of prone to mindless destructive rages he became loving and kind if just a bit naive, always looking for the best. His personality had been completely altered by the tragic(?) accident and head injury (the resultant brain damage had apparently blocked or perhaps even destroyed Kakarot's racial memories and Saiyan mission pre-programming!)
Gohan soon discovered the Goku's strange transformational ability, which occured whenever the boy looked directly into the light of the full moon. Knowing this he took steps to avoid the problem adjusting their schedule so they were always safely inside by moonrise on those nights. And warning the child of the 'full moon monster'.
Goku grew up fully believing that he was human and Gohan's real grandson. The old man taught the boy all he knew and giving him a magical power pole. Goku excelled in learning maritial arts and self-control, he was a gifted fighter instinctively understanding methods and technics. The two led a peaceful idyllic life alone in the mountains.
Tragically when Goku was about five or six, he was somehow exposed to full moonlight once more and transformed into Oozura. In his mindless rampage he accidentially stepped on Gohan crushing the old sensei. He has no memory of this event, all he recalls is finding his dying grandpa Gohan the next morning. It is not known how this incident occured, since Goku had been warned.
After Gohan's death, Goku continued to live alone in the mountains, cherishing the last gift old man had given him. A strange golden crystal orb with four bright red stars that glimmered inside it. The lonely boy made friends with the animals and often talked to the ball referring to it as his 'Grandpa Gohan'.
When Goku was about ten, his life changed once more. A young woman appeared, Bulma. She very literally ran into Goku, hitting him with her car. Goku immediately attacked the 'monster'. Then was shocked when the defeated creature spit out a human.
Several hilarous misunderstandings occured between the boy and the young woman. The first and most notable being that, Goku who had not so much had seen another human being since old Gohan's death much less ever encountered a car before, did not realiseat first that Bulma was a not another boy until she told him.
"Oh Hush! 'Geta." Is my response. "Give him a break At the time Goku had only known one other human in his entire life!"
Understandably Bulma was upset by the destruction of her vehicle, and a quite amazed at the little boy's strength.
Goku had never seen anyone like this being before. He was at first shocked by Bulma's emergance from the monster, initially thinking she was a demon or witch. Bulma explained that she was just a girl and that she was seeking Dragonballs. Goku was surprised to learn that this new creature was actually a girl. He informed her that he had never met one before but his Grandpa had told him that he was supposed to be nice to them, (it also turned out that Goku was completely unaware of some of the very fundimental differences!)
Goku took her home, and offered her dinner. That's when she discovered that Goku's cherished heirloom 'grandpa' was a Dragonball, Bulma tried to convince Goku to give it to her. but the boy refused. Bulma quickly learned that this strange tailed lad, was living all by himself in the mountains. As she explained the properties of the Dragonball to Goku she decided to invite him to join her on her quest.
Bulma may have been a just spoiled self-centered teenaged heiress, but she was highly intelligent and mature enough even then to realize that the boy couldn't remain alone where he was. Blessed with had a good heart and a generous nature, which she had inherited from her parents. She realized that Goku really needed some sort of adult guidance and a proper home. She may actually have decided to take him with her, fully intending to take him back home to Capsule, knowing her parents would not turn away an orphan.
I grin over at him, "Like when she took you in after everyone ended back on Earth after the destruction of Namek?"
He humphs and then scowls. "That was different!"
"Oh! Really'Geta? Just how?" I ask, (I love teasing him, 'Geta gets so cute went he scowls. I just want to nibble that pouty lower lip of his.)
He looks away, unable to argue, "It just was!" And sulks even more. (OOOOOO!! Sooo Adorable!)
So the two teamed up. During their ensuing quest for the rest of the Dragonballs they made many friends. Turtle, Master Muten Roshi (known as the turtle hermit, who gave Goku, Kinto'un, the magical nimbus cloud, as thanks for rescuing and returning Turtle), Oolong, Yamcha (Bulma first love) and Puar, the Ox-king and his daughter ChiChi (who Goku would eventually marry). As well as many enemies, the self-styled Emperor Pilaf with his two aides, Mai and Chow as well as had his first brief but fateful encounter with the Red Ribbon Army.
Once their first adventure was complete, Goku returned to study martial arts under Master Roshi (who had offered to train his old pupil Gohan's 'grandson'). This is where he first met Krillian. Krillian had come seeking to study under the great Muten Roshi, who was considered the world's greatest living martial artist at the time. At first Krillian was resentful of Goku but the two boys eventually became the best of friends and sparring partners.
After competing the his first tournament Goku was sent out by Roshi to learn about the world, this leads to his meeting more friends Snow, Eighter, Arale and her 'father' Senbe (Doctor Slump), Bora and his son, and the cat sensei Corrin who raises the magical senzu beans. Along with encountering new (and old) enemies Tao Pia Pia, Tienshihan and Chaotsu and the Red Ribbon Army once more which he destroys single-handedly.
Goku eventually remet ChiChi at the third World Martial Arts Tournamant after he defeated her in the semifinals, they got engaged and were married soon after. He fathered two sons, Gohan and Goten. Gohan in turn fathered Goku's only known granddaughter named Pan. There is at least one other descendant, a great great grandson called Goku Jr.
And the rest is DB history.
Bulma Briefs is the heiress to the congolmerate Capsule Corporation. The only daughter of Professor Briefs and his wife. Somehow she had acquired a Dragonball, (some sources indicated she inherited it, others that she found it in the attic.) Ever curious, she researched the strange lovely object and learned exactly what it was. Discovering the legend of their power to grant the collector any wish when all seven were brought together, she decided to gather them up and make a wish. (As if she really needed to?! With all the wealth her family already had!) At first she was going to wish for a lifetime supply of strawberries but then instead she decided she wanted a boyfriend. Being a technical genius, much like her father, she has designed and created the device which she named the Dragonball Radar. This device locked onto the Dragonballs unique radiation signature and located each ball on a variably sized grid, that indicated both distance and direction, leading it's user to each Dragonball.
The summer she was sixteen Bulma decided to indulge her youthful adventuriousness and was seeking the out Dragonballs. She had already tracked down and acquired a second ball. It was while she was in pursuit of the third (which just so happened to be Goku's 'Grandpa') that she first encountered the child Goku (Kakarot). This was the beginning of a long eventful friendship. Bulma had many adventures with Goku. Working together along with new friends and long time companions they not only sought out the Dragonballs, but saved their world and the universe as well, from numerous threats.
It was during their first adventure, that she met Yamcha her first love. The two's romance was a roller coaster of emotions, on again and off again, and could only have been called tumulus at the best of times. But their relationship did last for several years, finally ending just before Raditz's arrival on Earth.
The two remained fast friends, and Yamacha attempted to rekindle the romance after his resurrection, but by that time it was a lost cause.
"His loss is my gain." Says 'Geta. "He didn't understand the prize he had, the baka!" The Prince leans down and nibbles at my ear.
"Please 'Geta, I'm working." Darn him! 'Geta knows my weakness.
"I know I just want you to know that I do know what I have, and that I treasure it." He smirks with self satisfaction.
Bulma wanted commitment, a family and someone who could be match her in emotionally and intellectually. Yamcha could match her emotionally but was sadly lacking in brains (though not quite as much as Goku). This is probably what doomed their relationship from the start. Along with Yamcha's inability to make any kind of really lasting commitment (he seems pathologically unable to remain faithful to her alone for very long), his lack of morals (he was a bandit when she first met him), and generally lazy lackadaisical attitude. It could very well be that once learning of her wealth he decided to become her giglo, fully expecting to eventually marry her and live a life of priviledge and ease.
Bulma and Yamcha became intimate, at some point, it is well known that he was her first lover, but due to their tempetious relationship, not her only one. Her parents were known to be rather broad minded about such things (they let her bring a group of total strangers home, including two known villains who had both, at one time, been bent on conquest of the planet.) There is some speculation on who the others were, but Bulma is tightlipped. So that is something we may never know.
After Raditz appearance and Goku's subsequent death, they reconciled for little a while (but how much?) until Yamcha left to join the remaining fighters as they trained under Kami and Popo's tutelage in prepartion for the Saiyans arrival. When learning of Yamcha's death and the loss of the Dragonballs (due to Piccolo's death.) She was moved to tears.
Yamcha and Bulma's romantic relationship was already a thing of the long past, when she Gohan and Krillian departed for Namek. And though Yamcha hd been a very close friend, whom she cared for deeply and sorely missed, regreting his death, and truly grieved for, she no longer actually loved him. Though she was fully determined to make the incredible journey to Namek, to find those Dragonballs and use them to bring him, along the others back, she had begun to realize their innate incompatablity.
During the long trip to Namek, it was Bulma who first mentioned Vegeta, wondering what had happened to the defeated Saiyan. Considering she had not actually met him as yet, this is highly unusual occurence. It is assumed that the subject of the escaped Saiyan warrior could rightly have been expected to come up, but more naturally originating with either Krillian or Gohan, who had actually faced him in battle.
Since this was not the case perhaps something else was a factor, making her thoughts turn to him more readily than the others as would normallyhave been expected. Perhaps a psychic tie of some sort.
She finally encountered Prince Vegeta, for the first time on Namek.
The Prince and Bulma noticed each other at once, but Vegeta was more focused on gathering the (he thought) last of the Dragonballs. Flushed with that (assumed) success and his easy victory over Zarbon, the Prince barely reacted to her at the time. Although he was struck by her beauty, he was still far more focused on his quest for immortality and anticipated victory over Frieza at the time.
But there was a reaction nonetheless, Bulma and Vegeta were strongly attracted to each other almost immediately.
Much to Bulma's dismay, after all this was the evil crazed Saiyan monster that had been responsible for severely injuring and even killing some of her closest friends!
While Vegeta was also affected by her far more than he is willing to admit even now. This is obvious from his actions, in the normal course he would just killed them and taken their Dragonball without a second thought. He deviated quite startlingly, when he refrained from doing this, explaining it away by claiming there was no reason to waste his energy squashing bugs.
And a short time later when he encountered Gohan, he made specific reference to her as the gorgeous female (quite unlike his usual insults). Telling the boy he had spared his friends because he was in to good a mood to kill anyone. (At that time the Prince was still totally fixated on his all consuming insane rage towards Frieza, if he did feel anything else it may have been solely due the distraction of her presence!)
Bulma was perplexed by the battle she had just witnessed, (thrilled and strangely moved by it as well!) Vegeta's subsequent actions towards her and Krillian were totally at odds to what she had been led to expect from their descriptions of the Saiyan. He certainly didn't seem quite as bad as the others had painted him. (It was obvious to her that Zarbon not only provoked Vegeta but had actually after all, attacked him first!)
True the ensuing battle proved Saiyan was violent and ruthless, even a murderer, but if he was as insanely vicious as her companions had claimed, why hadn't he just killed Krillian and her? The handsome (albeit short) dark Saiyan, was a perplexing engima. Ever aware of her own attractiveness, (as well as it's effect on men). She had caught his slight reaction to her when their eyes met she had perhaps seen something hidden beneath the madness veiled within them. A hint of his brooding melancholy that stirred her strangely. Vegeta was a mystery and it is known that she loved a challenge.
After meeting Vegeta, Bulma had several inexplicable emotional reactions while on Namek. Normally courageous she was gripped by fear and dispair for no apparent reasons several times. If the timeline is observed closely, each of these incidents seemed to occur when the Prince was in battle, either in immenent danger of dying or actually died!
When Bulma and Vegeta met, something else unnoticed may have occured. Perhaps a psychic connnection of some sort was awakened or formed between them. This could explain his strangely altered behavior towards her, and her companions, (including his initial uncharacteristic gentleness with Gohan after his first encounter with her!) Whatever it was, Vegeta eventually allied himself with the Earthlings against the Ginyu Force (albeit reluctantly and against his better judgement) then helping to delay Frieza, and actually defending the others (Even after they had proved to be untrustworthy by sneaking off with the Dragonballs!) almost to his own death until Goku appeared.
After the restoration of everyone killed by Frieza, including Prince Vegeta, and their transportation from Namek to Earth. Bulma offered shelter to all the refugees, including the Saiyan. (She had been impressed by Vegeta's logic when he suggested a way to restore Krillian and [the at the time presumed dead] Goku, by first wishing them to Earth's afterworld and then back to life on Earth.) The Prince reluctantly accepted the offer of shelter, even though he acted rather insulted by the fact that she was obvious in flirting and teasing him in front of everyone.
Vegeta's reaction to her was a clear signal that he was indeed strongly attracted to her even then. As a seasoned campaigner, he could have just as easily refused, and lived off the land since he was fully capable of taking care of himself in the roughest sitiuations. In turn, her flirting indicates that her interest in him was fully aroused, and that for some inexplicable reason she understood that he would not harm her. Even though he had already fought and threatened several of her companions within minutes of their realizing his presence among them. In the ensuing span of time from the arrival on Earth, (while Namekian Dragonballs regenerated, some 130 days, well over three months), until the Prince realized that Kakarot was still alive somewhere out in space, a strange love hate relationship between Bulma and Prince Vegeta may have evolved.
When Vegeta departed in search of Kakarot and Yamcha was restored, Bulma greeted her old boyfriend estatically but was strangely subdued none the less. She seemed to regret this later, and was often distracted as noted by Yamcha, who in an effort to renew their relationship had begun to hanging around Capsule Corporation.
Although Bulma still bossed Yamcha around, she exhibits a strange reluctance around her erstwhile lover. Her intervention when Kirillan's first girlfriend Marron, started flirting with Yamcha at Roshi's was assumed to be caused by her jealousy, but it may have just as easily been merely disgust at Yamcha's obvious attraction to a friend's date and the airhead Marron's thoughtlessness.
Just before Vegeta's return, Yamcha catches her staring at the sky. He accuses Bulma of thinking about the Saiyan again. Bulma response to his accusation is not a denial. Instead she states in defense of the Prince, that Vegeta's not as bad as he seems, mentioning that she had actually dreamed of kissing him, and it had been rather nice. Vegeta's sudden re-appearance brings Yamcha quickly to the defensive, and the Prince seems ready to and willing to fight with him. Until Bulma suddenly appears and intervenes. She boldly flicks Vegeta's nose and scolds him, frankly telling the Prince, that he stunk and literally ordering him to take a bath. The Prince not only didn't raise a protest but then followed her rather meekly. (Although he was definitely ogling her provoctative hips!) His lack of concern about her presence in the bathroom while he was in the shower is another clue to depth of their relationship at the time and the mildness of his (for him) protests about the Pink Badman shirt are very unlike his usual arrogant attitudes.
Perhaps the referenced kiss was not a dream, after all. The months between their break up, then Yamcha's death and revivial was quite a long time. Perhaps too long for the lonely girl. Vegeta's attitude towards Bulma's orders are much more similar to a man who if not henpecked, is at least willing to comply with his partner (mate's?) suggestions. His remarks about enigmatic females, while in the shower, beg the question why did he think of her in those terms unless something was already going on between them. His demanding shouts could have been merely a ruse to conceal their true relationship, and explain his remark, (the enigma of her allowing her friends to continue to believe that she and the Prince were still at odds when the truth of the matter was otherwise.)
The fact that he has worn the supposedly detested Badman shirt more than once could indicate the possiblity that there may be some sort of private significance attached to the shirt itself, that it has special meaning for the couple.
If the simmering sexual tensions that were initially seen between Bulma and Vegeta had already been relieved and their relationship consumated far earlier than believed it would explain much. Knowing her friends distaste and distrust of Vegeta, the couple could have decided to keep it a secret for sometime (to allow the others to become accustomed the the pugnacious Prince) so it is entirely possilbe that they were together far longer than is commonly accepted.
Bulma and Prince Vegeta's relationship was finally revealed to ther friends when she arrived carrying the infant Trunks, just before the battle with the Andriods. (Although it was clear that Yamcha was already aware of the child's parentage and rather upset by it.)
Bulma and Vegeta had a second child much later, a daughter Bra. They also have one other known descendant Vegeta Jr. whose mother greatly resembles Bulma and Bra (indicating the genes came through materlinial lineage).
Raditz was one of Prince Vegeta's two Saiyan companions during the time of his captivity with Frieza, along with General Nappa. Oddly, Raditz bore a very striking resemblance to the Vegetisia (the royal Saiyans).
At the Prince's behest, Raditz came to Earth in search of his brother Kakarot. When he arrived used his scouter to locate the srongest Ki source but that led him to Piccilo first who Raditz fought and easily defeated. Resorting to his scouter again, he finally tracked down Kakarot.
Kakarot, or Goku as he was known on Earth, was making a long over due visit to his old teacher the turtle hermit, Muten Roshi. Along with his friends Krillian and Bulma at Kame house when Raditz arrived. Goku had come to show off his four year old son, Gohan.
At the time of their meeting Raditz told Kakarot that he would have recognized him anywhere since he looked just like "your father!"
Why would Raditz use those exact words if he was Bardock's son and Goku's full brother?
This could be a clear indication that Raditz was, in reality, only Kakarot's half brother! This would also give rise for the explanation of his uncanny resemblance to the royal Vegetisai and high power level. Since then it would have then been quite possible for him to be a lesser son of King Vegeta, (in many cultures only the Royal Wife or Queen can bear the true heir, while the king's children by lesser wives or concubines often end up serving their royal half-siblings in other offical capacities.)
This would making Raditz, Prince Vegeta's half brother as well, explaining the striking resemblance (but leaving no actual blood ties between Kakarot or Prince Vegeta.) Raditz's mother could certainly have been such a female, who once fullfilling the duty of producing a child was released and later mated with Bardock to produce Kakarot. So while Raditz and Kakarot would have had the same mother making them indeed brothers, they would have had differing fathers. (If Raditz was indeed the son of King Vegeta, this could further explain the fact that he was considered an elite Saiyan, unlike Bardock or Kakarot.)
Raditz then battled with his brother and kidnapped his nephew in an effort to force Kakarot to rejoin the last remaining Saiyans. He was eventually defeated when Goku and Piccolo, which caused Goku's first death. This also led to Prince Vegeta learning of the existence and power of the Dragonballs.
General Nappa was the Prince's other Saiyan companion. As a singularly brutish member of the Saiyan race, he exhibited little in the way of intelligence or self-control. His one talent seemed to be his rather immense strength.
Vegeta's obvious distaste of Nappa leads me to believe that the only reason he was initially assigned to the Prince Vegeta's service, was to serve as a sparring partner for the incredibly strong youth. The rank of General would then have only been an empty title, as it is obvious from Nappa's low intelligence and lack of self control that he had little if any actual command talents.
Also someone had to have passed on the information about Vegeta's suspicions about the existance of the Namekian Dragonballs to Frieza, even before Vegeta's return to base. The Prince would not have done this himself, so that leaves a single source for the information leak, General Nappa. Nappa's cruel streak would have given Frieza a handle to easily manipulate the brutish Saiyan into turning traitor to the Prince once he realised there was no other place for him (with Planet Vegeta destroyed).
Yamcha first appears as a desert bandit in Dragonball, his constant companion is a floating, talking cat named Puar (sex unknown). He first encountered Goku when he was a child, traveling with Bulma and Oolong as they quested for the Dragonballs for the first time. Yamcha was afflicted with a strange malady, he was so shy around beautiful women that he passed out everytime he came face to face with one. Of course Bulma first affected him thus but the child ChiChi didn't)! learning about their quest for the dragonballs, with the wish granting power. Yamcha decided to follow group and steal the balls so he could use them to wish for a cure to his crippling shyness.
During the course of following them around through various adventures and dangers, he grew used to Bulma and got to the point of being able to function normally around her. (This actually helped him him finally overcome his crippling shyness.) They fell in love, and at the end of their first adventure Yamcha returned to Capsule Corporation with her as her boyfriend. (Neither having needed the Dragonballs wish after all.)
Yamcha was at heart a good person, but he was a bit cowardly, lazy, and not very intelligent. The attraction between the two teenagers was based mostly on physical attraction and little else. And though neither was very mature they were both very passionate. Yamcha never trained as hard as the rest of the fighters did, unless it was absolutely necessary.
Yamcha did know a good thing when he saw it, Bulma was beautiful and rich. Unfortunately, his basic morals were sadly lacking (he had been a bandit after all) and he could not remain faithful to just Bulma for very long, even knowing that if he had, she would willingly have supported him in luxury for the rest of his life. As the years passed while Bulma matured Yamcha didn't. He worked at various jobs the most notable being a Baseball player (which exposed him to even more temptations when he acquired a bunch of groupies) and began to live the life of a playboy in earnest.
Yamcha and Bulma always seemed to be fighting (when they weren't cuddling) and had a big break-up, just before Raditz 's arrival. That was why she was visiting Roshi.
Perhaps she had fled to Kame' house seeking a refuge from his inopportuning presence at Caspule. She was certainly angry at him. Exploding at even the mention of his name.
After the Saiyan battle, his death and restoration Yamcha tried to reignite their failed relationship but the attempt was futile. Bulma had already met (and was in love?) with the man she would eventually marry, Prince Vegeta. Yamcha was still trying at the time of Trunks first appearance but by then it was far too late. Bulma was already falling (or had already fallen) in love with the sexy brooding Saiyan Prince.
When Goku told her to take care of the baby, Yamcha assumed that it was a suggestion from Goku that she was getting old (in his own rather tactless words) and they should get probably think about getting married. The look on her face says it all! Very soon after this we see a kind of jealous competition develops in Yamcha aimed at the Prince.
Bulma may already have been with Vegeta at the time of Trunks arrival. (He was watching her every move and as she arrived, and she first called out to him instead of Yamcha!) She was certainly cogniscent of Vegeta's royal background and even made several excuses for his attitude. Once Yamcha realized this developement he began to resent Vegeta and tried win her back by attempting to equal or surpass the Saiyan warrior. But soon he realized it was a lost cause (presumably just before or at the time of the gravity chamber accident). He finally accepted it when he grew to realize that Vegeta could give Bulma what he was unable to, complete faithfulness. (The Prince had shown no interest in any other woman since he arrived on Earth and though at first, he merely made demands Bulma and/or insulted her. Vegeta never once looked at or even noticed another female. Even though there was obviously more than enough opportunities at Capsule from female employees, they certainly weren't adverse to chasing Yamcha, so why stop at Vegeta.) Eventually the two men came to terms with the fact that though they both loved the same woman, she had chosen the Prince. Vegeta still insults Yamcha from time to time, but there is sense of a grudging respect and friendship between the two men. They all have remained good friends.
Krillian was a young buddhist monk when he first appeared, seeking Muten Roshi. Picked on by the other monks because of his small size and weakness, he desperately wanted to become the Kamesenni's disciple (Roshi was still considered the greatest martial artist in the world at this time). When he found Roshi, he discovered the old man already had one prospective disciple in Goku.
At first the old marital artist refused to take either of them on but after passing a test (where the boys were told to find a pretty girl for Roshi to date and ended up bringing him Launch, who was admittedly pretty but also extremely volatile. She kept changing back and forth with every sneeze between a sweet natured naive burnette homebody, to a man hating blond hellion, with criminally violent tendencies).
Roshi finally changed his mind and took the two boys on. At first bitter rivals, Krillian even cheated and tricked the simple minded Goku. But time alters many things and the two boys became not only sparring and training partners, but the of best of friends.
After their first stint of training the two boys competed for the first time at the 21st Tenkaichi Budoukai. At the respective ages 11 and 12 they swept through the elimations with ease, both making it to the finals. But Krillian and Goku were both defeated by Roshi who was disguised as Jackie Chun.
Krillian returned to study some more under Roshi, and Yamcha joined him for a while. Goku was sent off the learn about the life in the real world. The boys were reunited when Goku decided to seek out the Dragonballs a second time to restore a friend's father. At the time Yamcha and Bulma had had one of their numerous fights and she joined Goku in the search. Krillian soon joined as them as well. This eventually lead to the first big Battle with The Red Ribbon Army, whose leader was also seeking the Dragonballs. Goku destroyed it and their main base single handedly.
"At least he was acting like a proper Saiyan then!" Comments 'Geta.
"He only did it because they attacked him first." I answer, "Goku doesn't start fights."
"Neither do I, I just finish them!" He grins evilly.
"But you go looking for them and relish them!" Is my response.
"And Kakrot doesn't?" Contradicts the Prince.
"Well he tries to avoid them if he can." I say weakly.
'Geta smirks sarcastically, "Yeah right."
The boys separated again for awhile and were reunited once more at the 22nd World Tournament where both again made the finals. This is where Krillian and the others (Goku had already encountered them once) first met Tienshinhan and Choatze. They were disciples of the Crane hermit, who had once been Roshi's friend but was now his enemy. Tien only wins the competion, defeating Goku by merest chance but during the course of it, learns his master's true evil nature and reforms.
After the tournament, they all go off to dinner together, suddenly Goku realizes he forgot his power pole and the Four Star Dragonball which he still cherishes as a rememberance of his Grandpa Gohan) at the tournament grounds. Krillian offers to go back and fetch them. This leads to his first death at the hands of Tamborine, one of Daimoa Piccolo's children and minion. He was brought back along with Muten Roshi, Choatze and everyone else Daimoa Piccolo and his minions have killed with the restored Dragon and his Dragonballs in exchange for Goku remaining with Kami for special training.Krillian may not be very big, but he is the strongest full blooded human alive. Having surpassed his old master both in strength and courage, Krillian was then enhanced even further on Namek. This happened when the Great Elder Guru, released all of the little monk's buried potential just before the battles with the Ginyu Force and Frieza.
Krillian was killed once more on Namek and then later resurrected during this time. He eventually fell in love with and married the lovely Andriod 18, they have a daughter named Marron.
Although they are two distinct characters through most of DB they are so very closely linked that I will start by addressing both of them together (as should be since that is how they started, as one being).
Though now Kami is only known by his title, it may be assumed with almost certainity that his original name is also Piccolo (since he may have taken that name from the opening command of the ship, this would in turn explain how Piccolo assumed that name). His (and Piccolo's) understanding of the Namekian language is easily explained by the fact that it was the ship's language and the first spoken one that Kami/Piccolo would have learned. The ease in acquiring secondary Earth languages can be explained by the Namakian gift of telepathy which all members of that race seem to have in varying degrees of strength. (Which makes sense, a warrior would certainly be handicaped by his foes thoughts and pain whereas a healer could use those same talents to direct his healing.)
The only way that Kami/Piccolo could be without memory of the planetary disaster on Namek or his alien origin is if his egg was produced during the long journey to Earth. Some secondary disaster must have destroyed his progenitor, only allowing him the time to produce Kami's egg and set the ship on autopilot. Kami then hatched after arriving on Earth, so was completely unaware of his off worldly genesis.
Kami/Piccolo was the last living member of the Dragon Clan the greatest of the Namekian warrior clans. He was also gifted with the ability to create the fabulous wish granting Dragonballs (this seems to be a rare talent in the Nameks but one that is not clan linked as evidenced by the fact that Dende can also do this, unlike healing and fighting that are). For a long time Kami lived alone in the Yunzabit Highlands, half expecting some one to come for him, but as the years passed and no one appeared he began to explore. only returning from time to time to check and see if anything had changed at his 'house'.
Perhaps it was during these explorations that Kami/Piccolo's protective warrior instincts awoke. Coming upon the Lookout he finally found a purpose for his existence, one that his fulfilled his warrior impulses. They would have brought him to the belief that he was destined to become the next Protector of the Earth. But the aged existing Kami rejected him, claiming that Kami/Piccolo was unworthy because he contained a tremendous evil within himself. But Kami/Piccolo was driven by his instincts (perhaps because the Dragon clan had been the Protectors of Namek for ages) to become the next Kami.
Kami/Piccolo then embarked on a long course of mediation and study (perhaps under Popo's tutlage as Goku would do in the future), to purify and eliminate the great evil within himself. Eventually he suceeding, but the evil within Kami/Piccolo had become so great that it had taken on a life all it's own. So during his efforts to expel it, Kami must of accidentally and unknowingly invoked the inherent Namekian ability to split into two seperate beings, thus creating Diamoa Piccolo.
Kami/Piccolo been alone for a very long time. (Several eons!) Great resentment and anger can arise from such isolation and loneliness.
"Yeah, tell me about it." Says Vegeta as he looks over my shoulder.
"'Geta do you want to talk about it?" I ask leaning my head back to look at him.
"No, but I want you to stop writing and pay attention to me." Says the Prince with a gleam in his eye again. "Or I just might get resentful and angry!"
(Well we certainly don't want that to happen!)
I pause and look at the time, "I suppose I could take a little break and you have been rather good for quite some time." I smile up at him "Okay but just a short break!"
Bye................
Well, I'm back and the Prince is happy again.
"MMMM." Agrees 'Geta a smile of satisfaction on his lips, (OOOHH! those sexy lips! I just love nibbling that pouty ....Oops^-^!)
What can I say, the Prince's insatiablity is contagious. Back to work.
Kami/Piccolo may have also been initially avoided and feared by the inhabitants of Earth. Especially since his physical appearance was so reminisent of demons. This would have caused a feelings of alienation and rejection to grow within the youth because of those reactions. The youth being shunned and outcast, apparently even by his own parents (whose absence he may have naturally, if all erronously, viewed as abandonment), would have caused a great deal of resentment to be nutured within the young Namekian. That resentment could have easily transmorgified into a slow building simmering anger. This may have been the evil that he nursed and the reigning Guardian recognized as inappropriate for a someone who hoped to replace him.
Now freed of all evil, the Namekian was now acceptable as a successor to the old Guardian and took his place as the new Protector of the Earth, taking the title Kami, as his sole name. While the rejected part of him Diamoa Piccolo escaped out into the world.
Diamoa Piccolo already nurtured and formed by Kami/Piccolo's feelings of anger and rejection was then in turn expeled and rejected by his very self! This would have caused even more alienation and fury in the newly created Daimao. It is no wonder that in his rage he decided avenge this with the conquest and destruction of the Earth, which was the very cause of his rejection. Especially since it had been caused by Kami/Piccolo's love and desire to protect his home world.
Of course, this means that Daimoa Piccolo (I will from this point on I will refer to this form only as Diamoa, for the sake of clarity and separation of the next two incarnations. Diamoa was the incarnate evil that Kami had expeled. And whatever his fate it also affected Kami thus the new Guardian was helpless. Unable to take any decisive action against his other self.
Diamao rampaged throughout the world until he was finally stopped by Mutaito, Roshi and the Crane Hermit's master, who sacrificed his own life when he used the Mafu Ba, the evil Containment Wave, to captureand imprison the monster. Daimoa was sealed (presumably forever) inside a bespelled rice cooker and Roshi himself deposited it deep in the ocean.
But the imprisonment didn't last. Almost three hundred years later he was released once again
Daimoa was eventually recovered and released from his prison by the self styled Emperor Pilaf. Once released, the now aged Diamoa planned to resume his rampage, but first he had two other objectives, one to prevent the use of the Containment Wave against him by anyone else. The other to collect the Dragonballs which Pilaf had told him about, (although it could be assumed as Kami's counterpart he would have already known about the Blackstar balls) and use them to wish for eternal youth.
Although Daimoa should have known about the Dragonballs, (especially since the more destructive Blackstar balls had been created before he was separated from Kami!) He would not have known about the Redstar balls, presumably created after that separation. Diamoa must have also been unable to create any himself, either because Kami kept that power for himself exclusively (along with other abilities, which is far more likely) or because of Daimoa's great age he was unable to expend the needed energy for their creation. While, of course, he would have been extremely reluctant to employ the Blackstar balls, knowng that their use would have lead to his own death in one year, when the Earth exploded.
To assure his saftey he sends out one of his offspring, Tambourine (there are only two at this time, the other being Cymbal, who attends Diamoa's needs) to locate the Dragonballs along with all martial artists who might prove capable of mastering the wave. Tambourine had orders to kill them.
Tambourine encounters and kills Krillian during his mission when he steals the tournament list and Goku's Four Star ball.
After waiting quite some time for Krillian to rejoin them Goku had a sudden presentment of disaster and rushes off to find his friend. The rest of the group follows, only to discover his body and the tournament's injured announcer who explains what happened. This sets Goku off (ever impulsive in anger, a well known Saiyan racial trait) in the eventual quest of revenge and ultimate confrontation with Diamoa.
Diamoa and Goku's first battle was disastous. Goku loses and was forced to retreat but with the help of a new friend Yajirobie. Daimao is eventually killed by Goku, but prodices one last egg before exploding. In this egg he instills all his essence and power, thus creating the Piccolo we now know.
Although Piccolo was created by Diamoa of his own essence, and at first appears just as evil. He is after all a third incarnation. As such perhaps his evil had become attenuated or 'diluted', similar to the noticed degradation in clones of clones or copies of copies. This could explain his slow evolution into a hero, which was then accellerated when he merged with Naill (who was without a doubt a selfless hero in his own right!) Nurture as opposed to nature.
Piccolo finally faces his 'father's' nemsis Goku at the World tournament. But before he can fight Goku, Kami appears. Borrowing the body of a human he enters the tournament fully committed to stopping Piccolo, by what ever means possible. Up to and including his own death which would certainly occur if Piccolo is killed, since they are as it were two halves of one whole. But the younger, stronger Piccolo prevails and reverses Kami's attack, using Kami's own Containment Wave against him imprisoning him in the bottle that had been meant for Piccolo. (Because of all this there is little love lost between the two.)
Finally Piccolo faces Goku and a long drawn out battle ensues dring which Goku rescues and frees Kami. Piccolo is finally defeated. The ever generous Goku shares a senzu with Piccolo and tells him that he will always be ready to battle him.
Piccolo reappears in DBZ and actually aids Goku in the recovery of his son and eventual defeat of Raditz. With Goku's death and realization that even more Saiyans are on their way he takes it upon himself to remake Gohan into a warrior. This is the start of Piccolo's redemption and eventual evolution into the hero we now know him to be.
Roshi, Muten Roshi or the Turtle Hermit. These are the various titles of Goku's second Martial Arts teacher. He was the last person to climb Corrin's Tower before Goku, and he accomplished it three hundered years earlier, so he has to be at the very least three hundred and thirty. Roshi's only known living relative, his older sister Baba, the five hundered year old fortune telling witch.
Roshi and the Crane Hermit at one time were both disciples of the great teacher Mutaito, (Whom Kame must have felt was so exceptional, that he even had Popo send Goku was back through time to train with him!) Roshi's master finally stopped Diamao's original rampage when expended his own life force creating the Evil Containment wave imprison Daiamo and save Earth.
Roshi is the person who actually took the rice cooker prison and sank it into the ocean.
Speculation
This could be why Roshi originally became the Turtle Hermit, so he could stand sentinel over Diamao's Prison and prevent any of the Demon King's remaining minions from rescuing him!
Fact
Muten Roshi was considered the strongest and best martial artrist in the entire world for many generations. He had also been Old Gohan's teacher years ago, but had been retired for some time when Goku and Bulma first encountered him.
The two first meet Roshi shortly after Goku rescues Turtle from the desert and being eaten by a Tiger Warrior. Returning the old amphibian to the sea, Turtle asks them to await his return. Since night is approaching they agree. Bulma sets up her Capsule house and they spend the night at the beach. Goku is totally fascinated by the huge body of water. (He had only seen lakes and rivers up until this time.)
That night Goku had trouble sleeping, he had never been so far from home before so he went looking for comfort and reassurance. The lonely child started to crawl into bed with Bulma who was sound asleep. He nestled down between her legs like he had always done with his 'Grandpa' Gohan.
"HE WHAT!!!!" Shouts the Prince.
I grin up at him,"He crawled into bed with Bulma!"
'Geta's face starts to turn red, "I swear I'll kill Kakarot! The little perv!"
"Oh settle down 'Geta, it was all completely innocent! He was just a little kid at the time. And you know for a fact that he barely even knew the difference between a boy and a girl back then."
"Why didn't anyone ever tell me about this before?" He asks as the red slowly fades from his face, even though he continues to fume.
"Because they probably didn't think it was that important, and nothing happened...., well hardly." But I can't help grinning a bit, and he's still scowling so fiercely. (He's just too cute when he sticks that pouty lower lip out!)
'Geta gives me a puzzled lookas I giggle, then growls, "I suppose that's possible, but I'm still gonna get to the bottom of this and then have a talk with Kakarot!"
"If you just try to be patient and wait you get the whole story, there's a very good reason reason I'm telling this here."
The child Goku was unable to get comfortable in bed with Bulma. He wriggled around a bit but couldn't seem to locate the soft pillow ball he had ususally used when he slept that way with his Grandpa. Removing the covers, he raised the sleeping girl's nighty and tugged off her panties searching for it. And was so shocked to find it missing that he screamed out loud that she had lost her Balls! Waking to his shocked shout, she threw herself and the boy from the bed. Frantically she checked for her Dragonballs, finding them all, she angrily tells him that they're still safe then chases Goku out of the bedroom, never realizing that he had removed her underwear.
"KAKAROT WHERE ARE YOU!!!" Shouts 'Geta furiously as he heads out of the room.
Sorry guys I have to go now otherwise he just might kill Goku this time!!^-^
It took some doing but I finally got 'Geta calmed down. Luckily Goku was off training somewhere with the boys.
"He knew I was coming after him and hid!" Fumes the Prince.
"Now 'Geta you know that's not true, Goku was barely ten at the time. He's probably forgotten all about it." I tell him reasonably.
'Geta glares at me then smiles. "No one can forget seeing something that beautiful!"
I blush, "How sweet, but it not the same to a little kid's eyes, Love."
"I said don't call me that." He growls but comes over and crosses his arms to lean on the back of my chair.
"'Geta I'm letting you know now, there's still some more stuff coming that might upset you." I tell him gently.
The Prince begins to scowl again.
Turning I lean sideways to give him a quick peck on the side of his chin requesting in a conciliatory tone, "Please just try to control yourself a little while longer, and I'll make it up to you."
The scowl disappears and that gleam I adore starts to grow in his eyes.
The next morning they woke to hear Turtle calling, running outside they saw an old man standing on the turtle's back. He tells them that his name is Roshi, and that he's the Turtle Hermit. As thanks for saving his friend, he offers a reward and calls for Kinuto'un, the Golden Nimbus cloud. At first Goku thinks it's something to eat.
"Kakarot always thinks about his stomach first!" Says 'Geta insultingly.
I grin at the Prince,"I know someone else who's almost as bad!"
'Geta glares at me but his only answer is a snort.^_^
Roshi quickly explains that if Goku can ride the Nimbus. That it is capable of carrying him anywhere that he wants to go at incredible speed!
At first Bulma is skeptical, but when Goku jumps up onto to the cloud astonishing both of them when he remains standing firmly on top of it.
Bulma tries but falls right through. And then Roshi explains that Kinuto'un can only be ridden by someone with a pure spirit and innocent heart.
"Ha! I don't believe that for a minute. Kakarot is no innocent!" Barks Vegeta then he pauses and looks thoughtful. "But if that's true how come he can still ride that thing?"
"I think it's because he IS still pure and innocent." I reply, "Goku's old head injury caused far more damage than most people actually realize. It's kept him from any real mental maturity."
"That, I can believe!" Says 'Geta,"No one normal can be as clueless as he is sometimes!"
"It's not that he's actually clueless, it's more that he's care-free, and always full of hope like a little child. He lacks the normal cynicism of most adults. The world is always wonderful for him. He never really worries about things until he can face them. That's why Goku still retains his all of his childlike qualities, including his innocence. It one of the reasons he's always looked for the best in everyone and everything, as well as explaining his willingness to give everyone a second chance." I grin up at him, "Like he did with you!"
Vegeta's brows come back down, "Alright! Maybe he is still innocent."
Bulma is at first peeved that Goku has gotten a reward and she hadn't, but then she notices that the old man is wearing a pendant that just happens to be a Dragonball! At first she tries to wheedle it out of him, but the old man refuses. Then she offers to trade for it, (this is where we find out why Roshi is so willing to give Kinto'un away.. He can't use it!) The old man tells her that he'll give her the pendant if he can see her panties.
"We all know that old fool is nothing but a letch." Smirks the Prince.
"Yeah, but didn't you forget something,'Geta." I look at him in amusement.
"What?" He asks.
"Bulma didn't know she had lost her panties." I giggle again.
Vegeta's face starts getting red. "So the old moron saw her too!"
Luckily I grab him before he runs off after Roshi this time and manage to restrain him. "All Roshi did was look and then he gave her the Dragonball."
'Geta stares at me for a moment, "I still don't like it!"
"I know but just remember Love, it happened years and years ago. Way before we even met."
"Maybe we hadn't but you were still mine!" Asserts the Prince.
"But we didn't know it back then!" I wink at him. "All that really matters is that we know it now, right?"
'Geta looks at me and a slow smile starts, "Right, My Saiyanna!"
"Just a few more minutes okay?" I promise.
Roshi quickly realizes that this young boy is a very exceptional child. When he discovers Gohan was Goku's Grandfather, and that his old student is now deceased, he offers to take the boy in and train him just as he had his Grandfather. Goku accepts but tells him that he wants to help Bulma complete her quest for the Dragonballs, but that he'll return to train with him when it's over.
Goku sees Roshi again sooner than he expects. When he and ChiChi go back to seeking the Turtle Hermit's help to put out the fire that engulfs the Ox-King's palace. They had come looking for a special fan but Roshi had thrown it away. Instead he went with the two children to put out the fire himself.
Arriving at the Ox-King's Mountain, Roshi astonishes everyone when he uses his Special Martial Arts Technique, The Kamehameha wave to blow out the fire, unfortunately he also blows away the whole mountian and palace too!
When Goku first sees the KaMeHaMeha wave, he copies the Turtle Hermit and masters the technique in a single try. Mastering the difficult technique that took Muten Roshi fifty years to develope and perfect.
SpeculationI believe the Kamehameha Wave to be a variant of the Evil Containment wave. We know that Roshi did master the EC Wave because he was successfully using it on Daimoa until the lid to the container fell shut before the demon could be force into it.
Roshi may have developed the Kamehameha technique while attempting to learn how to master the Containment wave. It's entirely possible that the Kamehameha wave could be a weaker, less debilitating version of the containment wave, (it was designed to oppose evil, thus it's power has to be fueled by evil's diameterical opposite which is goodness or innocence). Goku's innate purity empowers the Kamehameha in ways that only he and his sons are fully capable of doing (this would also explain Goku's ease in mastering it as well the others, including Roshi's difficulties! The old lech certainly isn't innocent!) Goku, Gohan and Goten's purity is their most potent weapon thus making the Kamehameha one of thier most powerful techniques!
