Biography
“Passionate about Porcelain” says a lot about California native Catherine Houf who was raised in Northern California, where she spent time with her Mother learning various crafts. It wasn’t until she was married and moved to Livermore that she found a love of porcelain painting. Cathy, as she likes to be called, has seriously pursued porcelain art since 1997.

Catherine is a member of the Livermore Art Association and the Camellia City Porcelain Artists.. She has studied under Ann Apperson of Pleasanton, CA, for the past 9 years. Cathy has also studied under established artists such as Paula Collins, Nancy Benedetti, Ann Zitterkopff, Andrew Orr, Brenda Morgan Moore and Alzora Zaremba.. She has attended the Oregon Porcelain Artists Retreat for the past three years.

Catherine loves to paint a variety of subject matters that have rich color and texture. She paints on various surfaces; such as vases, tiles, mugs, dishes, pitchers, platters, trays, boxes, jewelry and ornaments. She is encouraged by her family and friends.

She attributes her love of art to her faith and belief in God and the desire to pursue that which challenges us and makes us strong.
