Thursday, June 25th

Chicago Cajun Aces playing at the Chicago Botanic

Garden´s Hot Summer Nights.  Cajun dance lesson

included.  6 to 8 p.m.  Free event but $20 parking fee

(think about sharing rides), members park for free.  Garden

offers light food, beer, wine and margaritas for sale.  Can

also bring a picnic dinner for this event.  No car?  Can ride

the Metra to Glencoe stop and take the Garden trolley ($2 for

round trip).  See the Garden´s website for details.  This is always

a fun event with great music in a beautiful setting.

Friday, June 26th

**Lost Bayou Ramblers with Tommy Michot (from **Les

Freres Michot sitting in) at Fitzgerald´s, 6615 Roosevelt Road,

Berwyn, IL.  They are opening for **C.J. Chenier & the Red

Hot Louisiana Band.  This will be a terrific night of dance and

music.  9:00 p.m., $15.  We don´t get to see Lost Bayou

Ramblers very often and they are soooooo great…don´t miss them!!!!!

**Michot Family Cajun Band featuring members of Les Freres

Michot and Lost Bayou Ramblers at the Irish American Heritage

Center, 4626 N. Knox (at Wilson).  8 to 11 p.m., dance lesson

around 7:45 p.m.  $10.  You´ll love them Friday night….

Wednesday, July 1st

**Joe Hall & the Louisiana Cane Cutters and BeauSoleil

playing at Fitzgerald´s annual American Music Festival, 6615

Roosevelt, Berwyn, IL.  Joe Hall will play in the tent at 5:00 and

again at 6:15 p.m. BeauSoleil will play in the club at 7:00. $30 entry

with $5 early bird discount during the first hour open.  First time

for Joe up here in Chicago so let´s get everyone out and show him

we can dance hard just like they do at NuNu´s, Festival Acadiens and

**Cedric Watson & Bijou Creole playing at SummerDance, the free

dance series held in the Spirit of Music Garden on Michigan Avenue

between Balbo and Harrison, downtown Chicago.  This is a free event

w/Zydeco dance lesson from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. by Rebecca Unger and

Buddy Bates and band playing the dance from 7:30 to 9:30.  Dance

under the stars amid the beauty of the twinkling skyscrapers.  Everyone

always has a ball at SummerDance and Cedric & gang will kick it into

high gear.  For those who are not familiar with Cedric, he used to

play with the Pine Leaf Boys and is a major talent.  See their website

**Curley Taylor & Zydeco Trouble will play Traditional Zydeco

at SummerDance, the free dance series held in the Spirit of Music

Garden on Michigan Avenue between Balbo and Harrison,

downtown Chicago.  This is a free event w/Zydeco dance lesson

from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. with Rebecca Unger and Buddy Bates and

band playing the dance from 7:30 to 9:30.  Dance under the stars

amid the beauty of the twinkling skyscrapers.  It should be fun

he used to play w/the Pine Leaf Boys) will play at the wonderful

annual Folk & Roots Festival sponsored by the Old Town School

of Folk Music.  Festival held in Welles Park on the north side of

Chicago.  Park is located between Sunnyside and Montrose on

north and south, and Western Avenue and Lincoln Avenue on the

west and east.  Numerous stages, dance tent, food vendors – lots of

different styles of music.  Cedric & Co. will play on the main stage

at 4:00 p.m.  Suggested donation to festival is $8

Sunday, July 19th

Come on over to Ventrella´s Café for the CFMA Cajun Jam…

2 to 5 p.m.  4947 N. Damen Avenue, Chicago.  First half of the jam

will be a 'slow jam' geared to the less experienced players.  More

advanced musicians will take over the jam later.  All levels of

experience welcome to participate.  The songs will all be Cajun

or Creole in nature.  Bring your guitar, button accordion, fiddle,

vocal chords and participate.  Jam guidelines will be presented at

the start of the jam.  Please thank James (who owns Ventrella´s)

for letting us use his place by purchasing some great coffee or

sandwich (he is also fond of Abita beer).  And a HUGE thanks

to Stewart Gehring for organizing and being the solid musician

to run the jams.  

 

 

Tuesday, July 28th

The Midway Ramblers presenting their Cajun program of music,

Dennis Stroughmatt & Creole Stomp playing at the Chicago
