Archery: Campers will visit archery twice. The first lesson will include safety instruction and some shooting. The second session will allow the Cubs maximum shooting time.
BB Guns: Campers will visit the BB ranges twice. The first lesson will include safety instruction and then some shooting. The second session will allow the Cubs maximum shooting time.
Jacob’s Ladder: Make this simple old-fashioned but fascinating toy.
Cooking: Cubs will have the opportunity to do some outdoor cooking.
Covered Wagons: Cubs will build a wooden covered wagon model.
Den Showcase Practice: Den leaders will help the campers in their den practice the skit they will perform at opening or closing. (This station is self-led.)
Dream catcher: Some Native American tribes made dream catchers because they believed it helped prevent bad dreams. Make a simplified modern version of this ancient craft.
Gimp: During the gimp station you will be given plastic lacing to make a gimp project. Campers at different skill levels may want to try different stitches. Additional gimp will be sold in the trading post. Gimp instruction pages will be included in your den folder.
Homemade Native American Games: Make equipment for some Native American games and play the games.
Horseshoes: Learn to play this traditional and fun outdoor game.
Native American Vest, Headband, Belt, Leg Rattle (several stations):
Make some clothing items based on what some Native Americans wore.Native American Symbol Story-telling: Some Native Americans had a picture written language. Use one picture language to make your own story and tell it to your den-mates.
Nature Trail: Learn a bit about how the west was won and how to mine for gold. (This station is self-led.)
Obstacle Course: The den will warm up under the leadership of the staffer; then each boy will be timed as he runs through the obstacle course. The staffer will then lead a cool down activity.
Rootin’ Tootin’ Field Games:
Play a variety of active games in the field.Rope Making: Learn how to make rope and how to lasso.
State Book: Make a book with facts about our great state of Oregon.
Tin Can Lanterns:
Hammer a design into the side of a tin can. When you get home you can place a real or batteryoperated candle inside and see the light shine through the holes to spotlight the design.Totem Pole:
Each member of the den will design a totem representing them and their interests, and they will be mounted on a pole at your densite.Water Rockets: Shoot 2-liter bottles high into the air with a water rocket launcher, under the careful supervision of a staffer!
