2007 |
|
Heading Out |
Our departure date
was Wednesday, June 13. We arrived in San Antonio,
Texas on Friday, June 15. Visited with our daughter till Sunday,
June 17 and then headed out for Colorado about 1:00 P.M. |
|
Cleaning up our Lot |
We arrived in Colorado on Monday, June
18 at 3:00 P.M. After we got settled, Jim began cleaning the
lot and hauling away the dead wood to the park's burn pile. |
|
Wildflowers |
Everyday
the meadows change colors and varieties with many beautiful
wildflowers. |
|
Wildlife in the Park |
We saw
elk, deer, porcupine, wolf, wild turkey, beaver and other little
critters. Bears were abundant in the Park this year, but we did not
see any, although some of our neighbors had numerous visits from the furry
creatures. |
|
Views in
the Park |
With 125
miles of dirt roads in the Park, we rode around a lot in our Jeep
checking out various areas of the park and met
some very nice neighbors. |
|
Rio
Grande Railroad |
Since the
San Luis & Rio Grande tourist steam train passes right by our
property, we had many opportunities to take photos of the train and
also got to ride it from the Park to La Veta and back.

a special professional photography tour (5MB). |

Heading Home |
Alas, due
to Elaine's health problems we were not able to stay as long as we
had intended and had to head for home in mid July. We decided to
take U.S. Route 50 back instead of the interstate and would take
this route again. We did take a few photos in Dodge City, Kansas. NOTE:
Jim may be heading back out in September with his tractor/backhoe to
finished cleaning the lot and check on getting a septic system in.
Stay tuned for updates! |
|
Back in
the park |
Jim did head back to Colorado in early
September and did not take the tractor, but wishes he had. The
people who put in septic systems were all booked up for the
remainder of the building season, which ends with the first
snowfall. |
|
Cleaning
the lot |
Jim got the lot cleaned up and got to
enjoy all of the beautiful fall colors. |
|
Headed
for home |
Jim packed up and headed for home in
mid October just 3 days before the first snowfall. |
