Lions Club is a non- profit service
organization made up of ordinary men and
women who are interested in helping others
and giving something back to our community.
What do we do?
Provide eye
examinations and eye glasses in Olympia area
for low income, individuals, particularly
children, who need prescription eye glasses,
but can't afford them.
Provide
food baskets at Christmas time to families
in need.
Provide
financial support to Camp Leo, a summer camp
program for diabetic youth.
Provide
financial support to local area non-profit
organizations, which include the Homeless
Backpacks Program, America Cancer Society
Relay for Life, Neighborhood Together,
Lawman 1000, and Neighborhood Free Medical
Clinic.
Provide
labor and materials for local area service
projects, such as
the recent
replacement of porch steps and the
construction of a wheelchair ramp at two
Olympia homes.
How do we
receive our funds?
Throughout the year,
our club raises funds from our community.
All public proceeds are used for service
projects.
Annual fund-raisers
include an All Scales Model Railroad Swap
Meet held each March, Christmas tree sales
at Ralph’s Thriftway, Entertainment coupon
book sales and fall apple sales.
For WHITE
CANES DAYS held the first weekend in May, we
distribute white canes to the public, and
collect funds for the N.W. Lion’s Foundation
For Sight and Hearing. Thousands of corneas
have been transplanted as a result of this
project, which includes the efforts of all
Lions clubs in our district.
