• American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) - A member board of the American Board of Medical Specialties, ABPM "grant[s] and issue[s], to qualified physicians who are licensed to practice medicine, certificates of special knowledge in Preventive Medicine." • American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM) - Citing Article X of ACPM's bylaws, the ACPM Board of Regents declared CAPM a Component Society on November 16, 2003.

• California Department of Public Health (CDPH).
• California Medical Association (CMA) - CAPM is one of the California Medical Specialty Societies recognized by CMA. As a voting member of the Specialty Society Delegation of the House of Delegates, CAPM is the voice for preventive medicine within CMA. CAPM members also serve on various CMA committees such as the Council on Scientific Affairs. About Our History and Non-Profit Status

• We were incorporated in 1958.
• Per a 1959 letter from the federal Internal Revenue Service, we are exempt from federal income tax under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(6). Our federal Employer Identification Number (EIN) is 95-6123914. Due to the Pension Protection Act of 2006, we are required to file an IRS Form 990-N (e-Postcard) annually between January 1 and May 15 for the previous tax year; this information has been submitted for tax year 2010 and is available to the public on the IRS Web site.
• Per a 1959 letter from the California Franchise Tax Board, we are exempt from State income tax. FTB no longer has a Form 99. Starting January 1, 2011, CAPM must file a Form 199N California e-Postcard with the FTB annually between January 1 and May 15 for the previous tax year; this information has been submitted for tax year 2010 (although it is apparently unavailable to the public on the FTB Web site).
• CAPM is registered with the California Secretary of State as a nonprofit corporation (search here for entity C0352698); this registration is renewed in even-numbered years by filling out an online form and paying a fee of $20 by credit card.
