Our History

The Cumberland Amateur Radio Club (CARC) was established by a volunteer group of amateur radio operators to provide and further social, public, emergency and educational activities in the field of communications.

The club was formed in 1964 and is the oldest amateur radio club in Cumberland County. It is a general interest club serving Cumberland, and surrounding south central Pennsylvania counties.

The club first became an ARRL affiliated club in June 1971.

The club call, K3IEC was adopted in 1968.

Our meetings are open to all amateur radio operators and prospective amateurs.  Meetings are held the third (3rd) Wednesday of each month at various locations near Carlisle and Harrisburg, PA.  Meetings start at 7:30 PM. 

Our club participates in the annual ARRL Field Day activities at Shaffer Park in Carlisle, PA
