Field Day 2012

Once again the CARC will participate in Field Day exercises on June 22-23, 2012 at our usual location, Shaffer Park, 1649 Spring Rd, Carlisle, PA.

All CARC Members and Friends are invited and encouraged to attend. Members, please contact Andy, AF3I, if you plan to attend so meal accommodations are correct, especially for our traditional "steak night" on Saturday.

Field Day 2011 Activities - Recap

Overview

Comfortably cool temperatures and blue skies greeted the early risers Saturday morning June 25, 2011 as Cumberland Amateur Radio Club established its Field Day operations in Shaffer Park, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Although the clouds thickened during the day, no rain fell. Overnight skies were crystal clear and remarkably insect-free. The on-site crew handled all aspects of set-up, operations, rest and relaxation, and tear-down with an enthusiastic spirit of collaboration.

CARC will meet on-the-air EVERY Wednesday,
on 28.440 Mhz USB except for our regular eyeball meeting day on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.

Club Officers for CARC 2011 are President Andy Forsyth, VP Joe Sheldon, Secretary Vacant, and Treasurer Garry Fasick.

CPRA (Central PA Repeater Assoc.) Monthly Ham Radio Lunch: at the Old Country Buffet in east Harrisburg the last Thursday of each month at noon unless it is a major holiday. This restaurant is located on route 22 in Colonial Park in the vicinity of Value City Furniture, K Mart and Home Depot. Good way to meet some new people…this is open to ALL area hams!

Our History

The Cumberland Amateur Radio Club (CARC) was established by a volunteer group of amateur radio operators to provide and further social, public, emergency and educational activities in the field of communications.

The club was formed in 1964 and is the oldest amateur radio club in Cumberland County. It is a general interest club serving Cumberland, and surrounding south central Pennsylvania counties.

The club first became an ARRL affiliated club in June 1971.

The club call, K3IEC was adopted in 1968.

Our meetings are open to all amateur radio operators and prospective amateurs. Meetings are held the third (3rd) Wednesday of each month at various locations near Carlisle and Harrisburg, PA. Meetings start at 7:30 PM. Please contact any officer for further information: location of next meeting, a membership application, or general information about the club.

Our club participates in the annual ARRL Field Day activities at Shaffer Park in Carlisle, PA

The club consists of 32 active members. All are amateur radio operators of various license classes.
