IS-A-VAH' STORY # 2

A Karine story

Once, there was a Fox who lived in the desert across the river from California. On the other side of the river, there was a very wise Coyote named Is-a-vah’. The Fox was very sly and wanted to steal the coyote’s young children.

Is-a-vah’ liked to walk outside of the magic circle and only used her magic when there was danger.  She liked playing tag with her friend, the Crow.  Crow liked playing hide-and-go-seek with Is-a-vah’.

Is-a-vah’s little sister, named Ally liked to tease Is-a-vah’s friend, the Crocodile because the Crocodile pinched her on the nose.

In Is-a-vah’s magic circle there was a silver-colored lake.  The lake was only 3 feet deep.

Silver rabbit came hopping down the path towards the lake.  She was astounded, when she crashed into a hummingbird.  This was no ordinary crash because the hummingbird was just a toy that someone left in the bushes beside the path.

At the lake a snake was slithering beside the water.

Is-a-vah’ smelled a dying rabbit.  She ran a fast as she could and when she got to the dying rabbit she used her magic.  The magic healed the rabbit.

Is-a-vah’ said, “There will be no killing in my territory.”

Is-a-vah’ had her own young to protect. And, that is why she went outside of her magic circle.

    The End
