Is-a'-vah and the Forest Fire

a coyote story told by Karine

One, hot summer day, Isavah was in the forest with Mocko, the bear.

Mocko said “We are going to the River of Time.”

Isavah said, “Great, this should be fun.”

As they walked along they saw some flames.  Soon, they were almost surrounded by fire, running through an opening to the River of Time.  Their hearts were pounding hard.  They tried to warn everybody about the forest fire that was coming their way.  On the side of the opening where they were going there was a wildland, fire station that was their only hope.  Isavah barked with all her might and, Mocko roared so loud that the firefighters came running to see what all the noise was about.  When, they saw the animals the firefighters wondered why the animals were there.

Mocko dragged the firefighter to the fire, with a walkie-talkie in his hand.  Mocko and Is-a-vah went to relax, but they could not relax until they knew the forest fire was out.

Finally the flames were out and  Isavah's and Mocko’s stomachs went back to the correct place.
