PETROGLYPHS OR PICTOGRAPHS

Is it a petroglyph [carving] or a pictograph [painting]?  Rock-art includes both petroglyphs and pictographs, and there is a third type called incised lines.  Incised lines are very, thin carved-lines, knife blade edge in width but usually scratched with a thin piece of obsidian or hard chert-like stone.  Within my definition incised lines are petroglyphs.
