Rock-Art 101
An introduction into the study of Rock-Art
The photographs that I share with you are from many rock-art sites located in the United States. Because of the "sacred-ness" held by many Native American people, and my personal cause for the protection and preservation of rock-art sites I have chosen not to list specific locations for the sites. If you are seeking information about a specific site please contact me at Carl Bjork
What is Rock Art?
The most common definition of the term rock-art : carvings [petroglyphs] and paintings [pictographs] found throughout the World on rocks/boulders/cave walls/cliff walls/ geological formations...on some kind of rock surface. Within this definition, today's graffiti-art form [gang-tagging, vandalism, self-identity carvings/paintings, and New Age identification] is not included in this definition by serious rock-art researchers.
