Players: Any
number; all levels
Where: Indoors
in a gym or outdoors
Equipment: Chalk
for outdoors; tape for indoors; cones; ramps or planks
Object:
Riders follow a course
to practice various riding skills.
Preparation:
Set up a trail
using chalk or tape that winds around the playing area. Add special sections
that require various riding skills such as a stream to forge (wheel walk),
canyons to hop over, trees (cones) to ride around, hills (ramps) to climb, and
bridges (planks) to ride across. Other areas can include getting caught in a
wind storm (three figure 8s), getting lost (several circles), being injured (one-footing), or
saddle-soreness (riding seat out front or back).
Play:
Riders start at
one end and ride the trail, following the trail markings and special areas.
Several riders may be on the trail at any time.
None. Riders may
make the course more challenging if they want by practicing other skills such
as one-footing or wheel walking throughout the ride.
Variations:
The trail can be
any length. For practice with just straight-line riding and turns, make a
separate short course for beginning riders.
