Linx

Players:          12 or more; Level 1 and up

Where:            Indoors in a gym or outdoors

Equipment:     Connectors, one for each rider (stretchy fabric cut in long strips—about 5 ft., or short lengths of rope)

Object:

Two riders (Linkers) try to close up spaces in a circle of riders; each tries to capture the other on the inside as the circle becomes closed.

Play:

Two riders of similar ability level are chosen as Linkers. All other players ride forward in a large circle, one behind another.

Both Linkers begin in the middle of the circle after the other riders have started.

As either Linker rides between two riders in the circle, that pair joins by catching one end of the Connector so the space between them becomes closed.  To close a space, the rider in front holds out the Connector for the rider in back to grab.

Linkers continue to ride inside and outside of the circle between two riders, closing up spaces as they go. Once a space is closed, they may not go between those riders again.

Each Linker is trying to completely close the circle, capturing the other Linker on the inside, while he or she is on the outside.

If successful, that Linker remains in the game for another round.

Linkers who aren’t successful choose a replacement for the next round, trying to keep the ability levels of the Linkers about the same.

Level Adjustments:

None. In this game, it’s more important to continue to ride forward without dismounting than to practice other skills. To help beginning riders, more experienced riders should be placed in front of and behind them.
