Stuck in the Mud Tag

Players:          8 or more; all levels

Where:            Indoors in a gym or outdoors

Equipment:     None

Object:

One rider tries to tag other riders, temporarily stopping them until two other riders get them back in the game.

Play:

Choose one rider to be the Chaser. The Chaser begins when everyone else is riding and tries to tag other riders. Once tagged, the rider must dismount until two other riders come by and each grab one of the tagged rider’s hands to get him or her unstuck and back in the game. Play continues until everyone is stuck. Last person tagged becomes the Chaser for the next round.

Level Adjustments:

None. If there are many players, divide into groups by skill level.

Variations:

The game could be played where only one rider is needed to pull another rider free.

Add conditions, such as it must be either two riders or one Level 1 rider who can free another rider.

Or, it must be two riders of exactly the same skill level who work as a team to free another rider. If there is a rider who is the only one of that skill level, that rider would not be able to free others for that round.

Other conditions for teams could include riders whose skill levels combined equal a certain number, such as six; or riders who are at least two skill levels apart, such as a Level 2 and a Level 5.

Comments:

This game is played in the UK.
