Prerequisite: Rider Base 6 Equipment: masking tape or non-slip testing strips; tape measure

Complete all skills with 3 revolutions of riding, and, if dismounting, dismount with unicycle in front.
Seat-out skills with (T) may be done with the saddle touching the body. Seat-out skills listed with NT must be done without the saddle touching the body. The entire saddle must be clearly visible and not touching the body. No weight (other than the rider’s hand or hands) or clothing may rest on the saddle for NT skills.
Options in the Artistic Intermediate Tier: 1. Follow the sequence for Classes 7-1 to 7-5, completing the skill classes in order without skipping any 2. Or take the alternate proficiency test, skipping any or all of Classes 7-1 to 7-5. If you pass all Classes 7-1 to 7-5, you do not need to pass the proficiency test to complete the Intermediate Tier.
Testing turns: Mark boundaries with tape or strips. Width must be 15 1/2 in. (40 cm), and length should be about 5 ft. (1.5 m) long, as shown in the Unicycling Handbook. If the rider’s wheel touches the boundary during the test, the rider fails that attempt.
Artistic Intermediate SkillsClass 7-1 (5 skills)1. Freemount using an Intermediate mount. 2. Ride either seat-in-front (T) or stomach-on-seat, 7 revolutions. 3. Make a 90° turn to the right within set boundaries. 4. Make a 90° turn to the left within set boundaries. 5. Idle one-footed, 10 times.
Class 7-2 (6 skills)1, 2. Freemount using two different Intermediate mounts. 3. Ride seat-in-front (T) in a circle. 4. Ride seat-in-back (T), 7 revolutions. 5. Ride backwards, 3 revolutions. 6. Hop either freehanded or seat-in-front (T), 5 times.
Class 7-3 (9 skills)1, 2, 3. Freemount using three different Intermediate mounts. 4. Ride seat-in-front NT, 7 revolutions. 5. Ride seat-in-back NT, 7 revolutions. 6. Ride backwards, 7 revolutions. 7. Make a 180° turn to the right within set boundaries. 8. Make a 180° turn to the left within set boundaries. 9. Idle one-footed, 15 times with right foot and 15 times with left foot.
Class 7-4 (11 skills)1, 2, 3, 4. Freemount using four different Intermediate mounts. 5. Ride seat-in-front NT in a circle. 6. Ride seat-in-back NT in a circle. 7. Ride one-footed, 7 revolutions. 8. Ride seat-on-side in a circle. 9. Idle with right foot extended, 15 times, and with left foot extended, 15 times. 10. Hop-twist 90° to the right. 11. Hop-twist 90° to the left.
Class 7-5 (13 skills)1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Freemount using 5 different Intermediate mounts. 6. Ride seat-in-front NT in a figure 8, using no more than 8 revolutions for each circle. 7. Ride seat-in-back NT in a figure 8, using no more than 8 revolutions for each circle. 8. Ride one-footed with right foot, 7 revolutions. 9. Ride one-footed with left foot, 7 revolutions. 10. Ride backwards in a circle, using no more than 12 revolutions. 11. Ride seat-on-side (right side) in a circle. 12. Ride seat-on-side (left side) in a circle. 13. Idle seat-in-front NT, 15 times.
Intermediate Tier Alternate Proficiency Test(Skipping any or all of Classes 7-1 to 7-5) 14 skills 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Freemount using 5 different Intermediate mounts. 6. Ride seat-in-front NT in a figure 8, using no more than 8 revolutions for each circle. 7. Ride seat-in-back NT in a figure 8, using no more than 8 revolutions for each circle. 8. Ride one-footed with right foot, 7 revolutions, and one-footed with left foot, 7 revolutions. 9. Ride backwards in a circle, using no more than 12 revolutions. 10. Ride seat-on-side (right side) in a circle and seat-on-side (left side) in a circle. 11. Idle with right foot extended, 15 times, and with left foot extended, 15 times. 12. Idle seat-in-front NT, 15 times. 13. Hop-twist 90° to the right and to the left. 14. Hop either freehanded or seat-in-front (T), 5 times.
Nine Intermediate Mounts: Back Jump Moving Seat-in-front Stomach-on-seat Side Side reverse Standard to one-foot idle Spin 180° Testing notes: Two-part skills such as “Idle one-footed, 15 times with right foot and 15 times with left foot” are considered one skill. Therefore, if the rider does the first part successfully but misses on the second part, the rider must start that skill over again and complete the first part successfully again. On any of the two-part skills, the rider may choose which part of the skill to complete first. For example, even though “Idle one-footed, 15 times with right foot” is listed first, the rider may begin the skill with the left foot and complete the skill with the right foot.
Artistic Advanced SkillsDraft: 8-10-05, 8-14-05, 1-11-06, 1-12-06, 1-22-06, 3-16-06, 6-2008 Prerequisite: Artistic Intermediate Equipment: All skill-testing guidelines apply. Seat out skills: Seat-in-front (T) or seat-in-back (T): saddle touching or resting against body is allowed (but not required) Seat-in-front NT or seat in back NT: saddle may not touch body, with a clear space visible between saddle and body Freehand: hands are not touching unicycle Extended: applies to leg/foot position

Class 8-11. Freemount using an Advanced mount. 2. Ride backward in a circle using no more than 6 revolutions for the circle. 3. Ride one-footed in a circle using no more than 6 revolutions for the circle. 4. Ride seat-on-side (T) in a figure 8. 5. Idle one-footed with seat in front (T), 10 times. 6. Hop seat-in-front NT, 10 times. 7. Wheel walk, 3 revolutions.
Class 8-2Required skills: 1, 2. Freemount using two different Advanced mounts. 3. Ride one-footed in a circle with right foot, and ride one-footed in a circle. with left foot 4. Hop-twist 180º to the right and to the left. 5. Wheel walk, 7 revolutions. 6. Ride backward, seat-in-front (T), 7 revolutions. 7. Ride backward, seat-in-back (T), 7 revolutions. 8. Tight spin for 5 circles. Choose one skill: (to come) Crank idle (T), 10 times right and 10 times left. Hop on wheel, 5 times; dismount from wheel. Spins.
Class 8-3Required skills: 1, 2, 3. Freemount using three different Advanced mounts. 4. Ride backward in a figure 8. 5. Ride one-footed in a figure 8 with right foot, and ride one-footed in a figure 8 with left foot. 6. Idle seat-in-back NT, 10 times. 7. Wheel walk in a circle. 8. Ride backward, seat-in-front NT in a circle. 9. Ride backward one-footed, 7 revolutions. 10. Spin, one-footed. Choose one skill: (to come) Crank idle, freehanded (T) 10 times. Hop on wheel, 5 times, ride out. Tight spins Riding hop-twist 180º
Class 8-4Required skills: 1, 2, 3, 4, Freemount using four different Advanced mounts. 5. Ride one-footed in a figure 8 with right foot extended. 6. Ride one-footed in a figure 8 with left foot extended. 7. Ride seat-on-side NT, 7 revolutions (not in a circle). 8. Wheel walk in a figure 8. 9. Wheel walk one-footed, 7 revolutions. 10. Class 8-51, 2, 3, 4, 5. Freemount using five different Advanced mounts 6. Idle one-footed, seat-in-front, foot extended, 10 times. 7. Hop-twist 360º 8. Wheel walk one-footed in a circle. 9. Ride backward, seat-in-front NT in a figure 8. 10. Ride backward one-footed in a circle. 11. Ride backward, seat-on-side (T), 7 revolutions. Choose one skill: (to come) Freehand hop-twist 360º Spin, one-foot extended Wheel walk one-foot extended, 7 revolutions Cross pedal in a circle.
