Base 21. Ride 25 revolutions. 2. Ride clockwise in a circle, using no more than 12 revolutions. 3. Ride counterclockwise in a circle, using no more than 12 revolutions.
Base 31. Ride in a figure 8, using no more than 10 revolutions for each circle (20 revolutions total); dismount with unicycle in front. 2. Ride to a stop, idle once, ride forward; dismount with unicycle in front.
Base 41. Freemount using the standard mount (forward or rollback). 2. Ride in a figure 8, using no more than 8 revolutions for each circle (16 revolutions total). 3. Idle 5 times. 4. Idle once with opposite foot.
Base 51. Freemount with right foot, using the standard mount. 2. Freemount with left foot, using the standard mount. 3. Ride in a figure 8, using no more than 6 revolutions for each circle (12 revolutions total). 4. Idle 15 times. 5. Idle with opposite foot, 5 times
Base 6Required equipment: Obstacle—Ice hockey puck 1. Freemount with right foot using the standard mount; idle 25 times. 2. Freemount with left foot using the standard mount; idle 25 times with opposite foot. 3. Ride in a figure 8, using no more than 4 revolutions for each circle (8 revolutions total). 4. Ride over the obstacle. 5. Hop 3 times.
Fast Test For the Rider Tier, riders may begin testing at any of the base levels, without passing the base before it. For example, a rider may choose to begin testing with Base 3. If the rider passes, he or she automatically passes the first two bases as well. However, if a rider chooses to begin with a higher base and does not pass that test, the rider may not attempt to pass a lower base at that time. After seven days, the rider may once again test on any base he or she feels ready to attempt. Testing rules are provided below and are subject to change. Each skill (or combination of skills) must be demonstrated according to the rules on the first attempt, although riders are allowed one second attempt on only one failed skill within each base.2. All skills must be done without assistance from anyone or from any structure or device. For Bases 1, 2, and 3, the rider may have assistance in getting on the unicycle. 3. Skills in a set may be done in any order, according to the rider’s choice. The rider must state which skill he or she is attempting before beginning to perform the skill. 4. Riding skills are forward, unless otherwise stated. 5. The standard mount may be done as the forward mount or the rollback mount in each case. Only the standard mount may be used in testing for the Rider Bases. 6. Riding more than the number of revolutions stated is allowed unless “no more than” is specified. For example, “ride 25 revolutions” may be more than 25 revolutions, but not fewer than 25. If no number of revolutions is specified, riders must ride at least 3 revolutions. 7. For Base 2 and above, the rider must ride into and out of all skills (3 revolutions minimum), except the distance skills (for example, “Ride 25 revolutions.”). 8. For Base 4 and above, the rider must freemount and ride into and out of the skills (3 revolutions minimum), as directed by the skill tester. The rider may use any freemount he or she chooses when testing for skills other than the freemount requirements. If the rider fails on the attempt to freemount on any skill other than the freemount, the rider may have an unlimited number of attempts to freemount and continue to test without penalty. 9. The rider must dismount with the unicycle in front when “dismount” is included in the skill. If the required dismount is not controlled with the unicycle in front, the rider does not pass the skill. If “dismount” is not stated, riders may stay on the unicycle after completing a skill and continue with the next skill if they choose. 10. For Bases 1 and 2, a controlled dismount is not required. For Base 3 and up, a controlled dismount is required any time riders are required or choose to dismount after completing a skill. Controlled dismounts are with the unicycle in front. 11. Riders may dismount and rest briefly between skills if they choose, but may not practice any skill during testing. 12. Each skill listed is numbered. Combined skills are counted as one skill. If a rider misses part of a combined skill, the rider must repeat the entire skill successfully in order for testing to continue. 13. When equipment is required, the test may not be completed without it. Equipment may not be changed or substituted except as specified in the Unicycling Skill Testing Handbook. 14. Riders must use the same unicycle during each separate base test—they may not change unicycles within a test. They may use any standard unicycle to test, subject to the approval of the skill tester. (Tall unicycles may not be used for the Base or Artistic tests.) 15. Testing for any base may not take longer than 15 minutes. 16. Only certified skill testers may conduct the test. Contract the Unicycling Skill Testing Committee to become certified. 17. Riders who pass skill tests will be listed in the rider database, as reported by the certified skill tester. Riders also may be listed on the Web site if they indicate that choice to the skill tester. 18. Retry Rule: Any rider who fails a skill test must wait seven days before retesting. German translation
