International Ranking of Unicycling Skill

Prerequisite: Rider Base 6

Equipment: U-wheel, no seat or frame.

 

All skill testing guidelines apply.  See the Unicycling Skill Testing Handbook for complete testing guidelines. Ride into and out of skills as directed by skill tester. Complete each skill with controlled dismount—stepping off, with one hand in front controlling the wheel. No hand may be used on the wheel unless specified.

 

U-Wheel Intermediate

 

Class 7-1

1. Freemount using the standard forward mount, using one hand if necessary.

2. Ride 7 revolutions in a line [not a circle, but not necessarily a straight line].

3. Ride in a circle.

 

Class 7-2

1. Freemount with right foot using the standard forward mount.

2. Freemount with left foot using the standard forward mount.

3. Ride 25 revolutions.

4. Ride in a figure 8, using no more than 8 revolutions for each circle (16 revolutions total).

5. Make a 90° turn to the right.

6. Make a 90° turn to the left.

 

Class 7-3

1. Freemount using mount from UW mounts list.

2. Ride 40 revolutions.

3. Ride in a figure 8, using no more than 4 revolutions for each circle (8 revolutions total).

4. Make a 180° turn to the right and to the left.

5. Idle 10 times.

6. Idle 5 times with opposite foot.
7. Hop while holding wheel, 5 times.

 

Class 7-4

1, 2. Freemount using two different mounts from UW mounts list.

3. Ride 60 revolutions.

4. Ride backward, 7 revolutions.

5. While riding forward, remove foot from one pedal and replace it, then continue forward.

6. Idle 25 times.

7. Idle 15 times with opposite foot.

8. Hop with top foot under pedal, 5 times.

9. Hop-twist 90° to the right and hop-twist 90° to the left.

 

UW Mounts:

Back mount: stand in front of UW, place one foot on the front pedal and go up and over the wheel.

Jump mount: stand behind UW, jump, and land on both pedals at the same time. May use one or both hands to hold the wheel.

Free jump mount: stand behind UW, jump, and land on pedals, without using hand or hands to hold the wheel.

Kick-up mount: stand over UW, place one foot on a pedal, and kick up to place the other foot on the other pedal.

180°  twist mount: place one foot on UW and twist 180°  before placing other foot on other pedal.

Rolling mount: roll UW forward and quickly place feet on pedals without interrupting the wheel's motion.

Side jump mount: stand next to UW, jump, and land on both pedals at the same time.
