They Call Me Lily

Lilly and Anne at the pound.During the summer of 2002, I found myself on the street, lost and alone. How could this happen? I am leash and potty trained. I love everyone whether they are human or animal. I was dirty, smelly and had more fleas than I could have ever imagined. On Tuesday, I was picked up as a stray and delivered to the Hanover County Animal Shelter. They gave me food, water and a roof over my head.

Late Friday afternoon I received a visitor, she took me out of my cage and held me in her arms. She returned on Tuesday with a handful of doggy treats, gave me a bath, flea spray and a good brushing. On Wednesday and Friday I also received visits and doggy treats. Little did I know, my new life was about to begin.

First thing Saturday morning, my visitor came Lilyback and this time she was not alone. She called me Lily and introduced me to my new adopted family. They took me home where I now live with 4 humans, 2 of which are young children. My other roommates include 4 cats, 3 birds, fish and not to forget the chickens and ducks outside. My extended family is even bigger and I get along great with all of them.

Do you believe in fairy tales? I do, because this is my story and I look forward to living happily ever after.
