~ ~ My  Love  ~ ~

Paul   Russell

I have the wonderful fortune to be married to the kindest,
most loving and giving man on Earth.

This photo was taken one day during a shoot when we were working on the Jacksonville, Florida cable tv program "First Coast Fandom". It was about science fiction clubs and events in the northeast Florida area. Paul was the camera man and I was the script girl. My friend Marcia Patterson was the host and Paul's friend Martin Smith was producer. I helped out once in a while.  ~    Jacksonville, FL 1993

I never thought I would find someone as wonderful as Paul, in fact I never thought I would find anyone at all, after leaving my parents house , being alone for over 12 years, and going out with a few not so nice men, I had given up on the whole idea of love and marriage.

We met on a surprise blind double date. On March 15, 1992 my friend, Elizabeth Fletcher, invited me  to dinner with her and her boyfriend, Arty Pugh. They picked me up and we drove to a local pizza place. As we were parking, I noticed a tall dark haired man in knee high boots leaning against a blue pick-up and as we drove in, he straighten up. I knew then, I just knew - I had been set up. I had told Elizabeth weeks earlier, I didn't want to go out on any blind dates and had forgotten all about it; but she hadn't, Paul was a friend of her boyfriend. We dated for several years and got married on May 7, 1994.

Thank you Elizabeth.

This is the first picture ever taken of Paul and I. It was about our 4-5 date  and we were heading out to a dinner theater.

Paul has this ability to talk to "Anybody, Anywhere about Anything".  It's one of the things I like most about him. It's something I can't do, I guess that makes it so amazing for me that he can.

Paul has more hobbies then you can shake a stick at, here are a few : old time radio internet swaps, stained glass, SCA (medieval reenactment), WWII British reenactment, weaving, video production work, celtic anything, bagpipes, violin, triumph motorcycles, woodworking, blacksmithing, chainmail, epee- fencing, Babylon 5, X-Files, sci-fi conventions, cats, swords, comic books, calligraphy, illumination, sailboats, chilkat blankets, erotica, books, photography, Ceribus, old movies, & other weird stuff.

Well, what do you expect from a man who names his pet rabbit "Dinner " and has a shrunken head in his living room. (Ok, so it's a fake head, but gross all the same)

You have already read about Paul's rabbit and the shrunken head.
Well here's another example:

We have a friend named Gwen Miller, who is allergic to cats but they love her , when ever one is around they go up to Gwen. She even has stray cats hanging around her house.

The other day Paul was at her house and sees a cat sitting on her car and starts kidding her about it. She said that the cat was "Not Bob 2".

Paul says "Huh?"

Gwen told him that when her nephew was visiting last summer , he named one of the stray cats "Bob" but that cat had since disappeared. The next stray that came around was called "Not Bob".

The third stray (the one on the car that day) was "Not Bob 2" but she didn't know what she would do if a fourth stray cat was to come around.

So Paul says, that the actual name of the this cat was "Not Bob Square" and the name of any new cat should be "Not Bob Cube".   Which tickled Gwen's husband, a lover of all kinds of math things.
