J. T. (Joseph), son of James Robert Caudle and Tennessee Petty, died at the age of one year and four months as the result of contracting measles while he was ill with whooping cough.
". . . grandmother [Tennessee Petty Caudle] would sometimes slip quietly away from the house and walk, alone, to the little graveyard. The loss of this child left void a place in her life which was never filled by her other children." (From Our Kin Past and Present, page 194.)
