16-17 reunion in Mt. Vernon, TX is in progress. Details to be provided
as they become final. 7/19/2009: The 2007 Reunion
marking the
10th year of this project was a success with 75 folks registered. See

Vernon are posted. The Caudle Reunion was held on the grounds of the Providence Primitive Baptist Church on October 15, 2005. For a reunion report click here. photo for printing. 10/3/2005: Made changes removing Harrison from the Bennett Caudle
(b. abt 1806) name. It could be Bennett Harrison Caudle, and probably
is. 9/23/2005: The October 15 2005 reunion will be held on the

Slide Shows. 8/13/2005: Carmen Ascue Fox, Mae Tanner's sister, died on
August 5, 2005. My 3rd cousin, I met her first at our reunion in 1997
when she invited us to her home where we enjoyed her hospitality with
cousins. A copy of her obituary is here. 6/28/2005: Planning began for a reunion at the Providence
Church near Mt. Vernon, Texas on October 15, 2005. Further reunion
information will be posted on this web site. Activities will include
dedication of the headstone for Mark Caudle at the Providence Cemetery,
lunch or dinner, and probably a visit to the nearby Glade Springs
Church and Cemetery, also a church of early Caudle settlers of the area. 6/08/2005: Information added
on Caudle family members buried in the Providence Cemetery. Headstone
pages will be added very soon now. 5/14/2005: Twenty folks attended a work day at the Providence
Church and Cemetery to install a cemetery marker for Mark Caudle, b.

group photo is provided. 10/31/04: Sixty-three folks attended the reunion on October 23, 2004 at the Senior Citizens Center in Dublin, Texas. The first steps, electing officers for a Caudle Cemetery Association, were completed at the meeting. Click here for the report and group photo suitable for printing. 8/01/2004: The date and place for the fall 2004 reunion are set for October 23, 2004 at the Senior Citizens Center, Dublin, Texas. Please note that this is a very important meeting. We need to organize a Caudle Cemetery Association and set up a Perpetual Care Fund for the cemetery. Click here for details of the reunion, luncheon and lodging information. 1/29/04: Norma Wren Preston, wife of Max Preston, a descendant of Bennett Caudle, passed away in August, 2003. Norma provided a great deal of research that included locating the Daniel Clayton Will which corrected Clayton lineage information in the Our Kin, Past and Present book. Her obituary can be found on the San Angelo Times archives. Descendants of the James Caudle family who moved to Texas in 1841 are planning a reunion for the fall of 2004 in the Erath County area. Details of that planning will be posted here and on genealogy web sites. If you would like to be notified of new events about this, send your email address to me. Folks who have ancestors in the Caudle Cemetery will be interested to know that a Caudle Cemetery Association is in the planning stage. This is necessary to set up a perpetual care fund for the cemetery so it will not be neglected for another 100 years. 2/7/03: Added site search to help you find information to your interest. Try it from above. Many pages have been changed in appearance. New information toward understanding the Lawson/Caudle relationship was added. 1/7/2003: Happy New Year! A page about Rebecca's Churn was added. Also, a photo of William W. Caudle, son of Joseph H. Caudle and four cousins. Please help me identify the four cousins. They must have lived close to Dublin, TX when the photo was taken. 12/31/2002: Added a few pages on the Providence Church and Cemetery which was chartered by seven folks including James Caudle, wife Mary, and their son William on May 28, 1842. It was the first church in what is now Franklin County, TX. Also linked into those pages a map showing where the James, William, Mark, and Bennett Caudle 1842 land grants were. 07/03/2002: Added a cemetery photo history. 06/30/2002: Please note the change in my email address 02/11/2002: List of names of folks added to the 1907 James Robert Caudle family reunion picture. 02/10/2002: Photo contributed by Bruce Cunningham of the 1907 James Robert Caudle family reunion held at the old J. R. Caudle homestead on Little Green's Creek. 12/2/2001: Corrections made to the James Caudle Family History. 10/30/2001: Added a picture of the recently installed Caudle Cemetery State Historical Marker with my uncle Dan reading it at the cemetery dedication. Included the headstone for Mamie Etta Caudle, installed at this dedication. 10/26/2001: Pictures of all the headstones which have enscriptions are now viewable from the Headstones page. Also, Mae reported that: "We had such a marvelous crowd, there were 88 for lunch and 110 registered and later I discovered that about 20 didn't register. So a total of about 125/130 were there. There was a great write up in the Dublin Citizen, 404 N. Patrick, Dublin, Tx 76446. 10/24/2001: Added an expanded version of the reading on the James Caudle family who moved to Texas in 1841 and the shorter version read at the dedication. The article appearing in the Dublin Citizen on October 11, 2001 is included. 10/23/2001: The dedication/reunion was a huge success. About 80 people attended the luncheon, and I overheard that about 100 had attended in one way or another. I'm busy working on changes for this website to include information from the dedication and reunion, which will include new pictures, so check back later for more details. If you have pictures or family stories you would like to include on this Caudle family website, just send them to me by e-mail and I'll work them in. 07/20/2001: Added a photo of the headstone of Martha Elizabeth Junell Caudle . 04/10/2001: The Texas State Historical marker is now in Dublin, and will be set before the autumn reunion and dedication. 01/13/2001: Daniel Clayton Will which proves Daniel Clayton to be the parents of Cynthia Clayton Caudle and Rebecca Clayton Caudle. |
