Welcome Back To School!

The growth of the Mustang Band program has been exciting! We are happy to have added orchestra as a music elective. It will begin this year with sixth grade students with the intention to offer it to sixth and seventh graders in 2008, and all three grades in 2009. welcome string players to the Mustang Band program!

We have been able to secure Frederick Community College as our concert venue for the 12/19 concert and the 5/14 concert. This is a far superior musical situation for the students as well as the parents compared to the floor of the Monocacy Middle cafeteria. Thank you Mr. Copeland for making this happen for us. both concerts begin at 7:00. Make sure you check out the events page on this website. Most of the events your children will be involved in this year are already up. Check it every once in a while for changes. The 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Assessment pages on this site will not be used this year. Please use the pinnacle grade book to check for your child's assignments. Those of you who choose to get SmartMusic for your computer at home will have a seperate website to get playing assignments that you access directly from SmartMusic. If you have no idea what the heck I just wrote about, look at the paragraph below on SmartMusic.

SmartMusic

SmartMusic is a computer program that has hundreds of solos for your son or daughter to play along with. Also on Smartmusic is a high quality tuner, and a metronome. Both of those make the $25.00 price well worth it. Most of the playing tests your child will have in band will be on SmartMusic. If he or she has it at home, they can be downloaded from this website SmartMusic, practiced, performed, and the grade can be sent back to Mr. Berry. If yor son or daughter plays a percussion instrument, SmartMusic may not have a lot for him or her at this time. See this letter for more information SmartMusic letter
