I'm a former professional freelance journalist. Oh, wait. I forgot my marketing talk. I'm a former award-winning professional freelance journalist. Former, because I figured out that the free in freelance referred more to the pay than to the independence of the profession. I'm still a writer, though and will always be. I'll be using this site to feature some creative works as well as essays and guest columns and my blog writings.
In addition, I'm a huge music fan. I love classic 70s rock, contemporary indie rock, hard rock, electronica, world music, jazz and classical (and a little of just about every other musical style). The best radio station on the entire planet is Seattle's KEXP. I encourage you to check it out..and support them if you like what you hear. You can listen online and the website has a huge, huge streaming archive of specialty shows, daily shows and in-studio performances.
I am inextricably tied up with the sport of football (soccer to my fellow Americans). My kids play soccer and I spend a lot of time driving them to and from practices and games, and watching the games myself. I play soccer just about every week in a local league. And I watch as many games of my favorite club, Arsenal, as I can, as well as the stray Manchester United game and Champions League games.
As time goes on, I hope to add more on these two passions of mine to this site.
