Volume 7, Issue 1 NEWSLETTER February, 2002

Greetings from the President…

The days are growing longer, and that means The CCMGA season is not far away. This year’s board is looking to build on the successes of last year, and continue the growth of the Club. Despite the issues and problems that occasionally crop up in our Club, I feel that this is the best Men's Club in the County, due to the quality of our Membership. I have played in three previous clubs, and we have the best schedule of tournaments, and the most fun by far. Before we discuss this year’s events, I would like to take a minute to congratulate last years Champions.

Match Play Champion, Senior Champion& Player of the Year - John Brewer
Club Champion (and now a Utah resident) - Chance Wagstaff

Also, we should thank the Coal Creek Staff. They do a great job, and are easy to work with. I feel that we have a good relationship to build on in the future. Next time you are in the shop give them a smile. It’s tough dealing with 140 men who are "always right".

We are expecting a great year of competition in the CCMGA this year. We look forward to having one of the most fun and competitive years on record.

As you can see in this newsletter, the Board of Directors has already been on the job. The schedule for the 2002 season has been discussed with the Coal Creek Tournament directors, Keith Soriano and Matt Provo. Approval has come down from on high and we are looking to get underway on April 6th.

This year’s schedule, along with information on the Tuesday Night League, and The Strokers is included in this newsletter. CCMGA membership application, and tournament forms will again be available in the pro shop. One request is that all club, and league fees be paid by check only. It is much easier to for accounting reasons, and documentation. Thanks in advance. We are keeping the Club dues at $140.00 if paid before March 31st, and $160.00 if paid on or after April 15th.

Last year, after some stops and starts, we had our first Couples tournament. We will be doing it again this year so find yourself a woman who plays golf.

As you can see on the tournament list, we have been able to use a shotgun start on almost all of the tournaments. We are hoping that the staff will be able to get a horn to help us with the starts this year. We ask that you plan ahead this year so that you are at your designated hole and we can start the tournaments on time. We really think that the tournaments can be finished in 4 ½ hours. If we can manage this improvement we will have more time to post the results and give the winners a hard time.

This year Coal Creek is changing to a 7 day lead for tee times. This means that sign-ups for tournaments will now end two Thursdays before each tournament so that the Coal Creek staff will have time block out the required amount of tee times for our tournaments. Please help us make a smooth transition to the new scheduling format.

We had great success with our web site last year, thanks to Dave Ewing (2000 Player of the Year). So, don’t forget to check in each week at ccmga.home.mindspring.com to be updated with all the schedules, member information, newsletters, and tournament results. There is also a spot on the application for your e-mail address.

I look forward to seeing familiar faces on the course, new members, and full fields in our events. So for now, Good Luck to all, and let's give this Brewer guy some early heat this year.

Randy Hehn

2002 CCMGA President
