MANASOTA FOSSIL CLUB
The Manasota Fossil Club was formed to bring together those people in the Manatee and Sarasota County, Florida area who are interested in paleontology, local fossils and artifacts. We meet every month, except July and August, at the Fruitville Library from 5:45 to 7:45 P.M. The library is located just east of Interstate I-75 at Fruitville Road (exit 210) and Coburn Roads in Sarasota. Visitors and new members are always welcome to attend.
Meetings usually feature a guest or member speaker and slide shows and/or fossil displays. Raffles of donated fossil related material are held several times a year. We are a fairly informal group and leave time at each meeting to mingle, compare finds and try to identify those "mystery" fossils.
Group field trips are available to members from time to time, as we can secure invitations from phosphate mines and shell pits in the area. Canoe trips on the Peace River are another favored activity. Special, ongoing activites include coordinating with Sarasota County and the Fruitville Library to establish a fossil display at the library, with hopes to expand it to a small museum on adjacent county property in the future.

To keep the club going we need nominations/volunteers for officer positions of president, vice president and secretary. The election of officers will be held at the June 12 meeting. Please consider running for office.
