THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2008 is the NEXT MEETING

The next meeting is on THURSDAY, September 11, 2008 in the Fruitville Library meeting room. Our allotted time is from 5:45 to 7:45 PM. and the meeting starts at 6:00 PM. Come early to mingle and show off your fossil finds.

Visitors and guests are always welcome to attend. The Fruitville Library is located at the sw corner of Fruitville and Coburn Roads in Sarasota, Florida, just east of I-75 at exit 210. The entrance is off Coburn Rd.

HIGHLIGHTS from the JUNE MEETING

MFC Minutes June 12, 2008:
Helen Gardner opened the meeting and asked for additional nomination of officers. None were forthcoming. All present voted aye for the slate of: Kim Westberry for president, Rita Stroud for vice-president, Carol Copas for secretary, and Peggy Winner for Treasurer. They will take office in September.
Bill Silk reported on the planned canoe trip. $33.00 per canoe for 2 with an 8AM start time at Canoe Safari in Arcadia. We'll be bussed to Brownville and canoe approximately 9 miles back to Arcadia. Saturday, June 28 was the date decided upon. A sign-up sheet was provided at the meeting and anyone else who wishes to go may call Bill at 941- 488-6106.
Helen Gardener said she has not gotten a reply from Ruck's Pit but will try again for a trip in the fall.
Kim Westberry talked about her Nebraska/South Dakota fossil trip and showed off a few of her finds.
SW Fossil Club will have a fossil swap/sale/trade on Saturday, June 14 at Edison College in Punta Gorda.
