WEDNESDAY, MAY 8, 2013 is the NEXT MEETING

The next meeting is on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the Las Palmas clubhouse, 519 Albee Farm Road, Venice, from 7 to 9 PM.

PLEASE turn right after entering the driveway and park in one of the unnumbered spots along the fence at the far right. Parking near the clubhouse is NOT allowed. Those spots at the clubhouse are only to be used for drop off or unloading, if necessary, and then the car must be moved to the approved area.

DO NOT PARK IN THE RESIDENTS' NUMBERED SLOTS.

Visitors and guests are always welcome to attend our meetings.

UPCOMING for the MAY MEETING

This evening Bob Fuqua will be speaking on fossils from Florida, Kansas and Maryland. We can discuss getting together during our summer hiatus if any members are interested in meeting informally at the beach or river. We'll try for another raffle if enough material is brought in, and as always, we'd love to see any fossils you'd like to show off and/or get information on. No one has signed up to bring snacks to this meeting, so if you are hungry, bring along some nibbles to share.

HIGHLIGHTS from APRIL

Bob Morgan's annual display of some of his outstanding fossil collection drew everyones' attention. We never get tired of seeing fossils and Bob's always give us incentive to get out there and hunt. Great display and talk, as usual. The April 27 CF trip was cancelled due to lack of interested members signing up. Dean Hart again offered to lead trips to the Peace River and asked those interested to contact him. Gary Rowe announced that the clubhouse will not be available to us June thru September.

A printed copy of the newsletter will no longer be mailed via the USPS and will be sent via email only. If you are not receiving it, I don't have a valid email address for you. Please make sure to print it carefully after your name on the sign-in sheet or email me at ccopas@comcast.net

Because the newsletter is no longer being printed to include the date that your dues are due, all dues will become due and payable in January of each year. Remember, if you can't make the meetings to pay in person, dues may be mailed to the P.O. box listed on the form below.

Meetings will be on the 2nd Wednesday of the month except during the summer. You can check the newsletter online at http://home.comcast.net/~ccopas/mfcnewsletter.htm for up to date information. This year, 2013, we will not meet June thru September. Regular meetings will resume in October.
