WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2009 is the NEXT MEETING

The next meeting is on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 in the Fruitville Library meeting room. Our allotted time is from 5:45 to 7:45 PM. and the meeting starts at 6:00 PM. Come early to mingle and show off your fossil finds.

Visitors and guests are always welcome to attend. The Fruitville Library is located at the sw corner of Fruitville and Coburn Roads in Sarasota, Florida, just east of I-75 at exit 210. The entrance is off Coburn Rd.

UPCOMING for the DECEMBER MEETING

Our December meeting is our annual holiday party and raffle so please try to attend and enjoy a good time. Everyone who is able to is requested to bring a raffle item and a "finger food" type goodie to share. The club will provide sodas, ice, plates and napkins, etc. Raffle items may be either fossil or holiday related. While not mandatory, the more items donated, the more fun for all.
The fossil "show-off" tables will be set up at the back of the room so bring along your recent fossil finds to show off and discuss.

HIGHLIGHTS from NOVEMBER

Everyone enjoyed the presentation Dean Calamaras gave on local fossils. The examples, especially the complete lower jaw of a 3 toed horse (minus only one tooth), were well worth viewing. The fact that it was found right here in Sarasota County should give us incentive to keep hunting.
