Welcome to W3FUT's
Web Site!
Hello , This is my current digital operating position. It is comprised of a Kenwood TS430S, with automatic antenna tuner, a Yaesu FT-920, Drake TR7A, Alliance dual speed antenna rotator, a P.B. 300mhz pentium computer, and a Presario 5000 Compac computer. Also, out of sight are a flatbed scanner and bubble jet printer. I have several antennas consisting of a 3 element beam (Mosley CL-33) in service since 1969, and dipoles for the various bands. I operate on 160M thru 70Cm bands. I have been active on the amateur bands since 1955. I enjoy just about all modes of operation, especially SSTV, SSB, and PSK modes. Still like to do a bit of dxing occasionally.
This is a shot of the CL-33 Beam, at 42 ft. Below it is a vertical for 2 Meters ( Ringo Ranger).
This is the operating postion of my older equipment. All are still in fine working conditon and in use. I am partial to the Drake lines, and use both the C line and TR7 line, including antenna tuners and remote vfos. The equipment in the center is all home built and consists of a 450TH triode amp, a pair of 813s in grounded grid, and the power supply which incorporates a 1.5KVA pole pig transformer. Also, you can see the Hallicrafters HT32B using (2) 6146B and the HT33B, using a PL172 ceramic tube in class AB2 configuration in left center of photo, and the Ten-Tec Centurion amp using (2) 3-500z's 0n the right. I have been able to enjoy many years of operating with this setup.
I am originally from the eastern shore of Maryland, Salisbury to be exact, and operated there from 1955 to 1961, then moving to Wilmington, Del., for one year, then Dover, Del. for 6 years, and on to Seaford, Del. for another 3 years. In 1971 I moved to Richmond, Va., where I have been since. I still travel to the homestead in Salisbury, Md. often, and have a small station set up there. Thus, you can see the reason for my "W3" prefix. I received my novice ticket in 1955, and upgraded to a general ticket in 1957, and finally , got my extra class license a few years ago when you had to do the 25 wpm test.. thought I'd never get up to it..Hi... I still enjoy a little cw once in a while and can still copy 20wpm..
73 for now!! Chuck
