MY VIEW OF THE FOOTHILLS - Original Work - 2005
My work is a composite of textiles cut into random shapes and fused onto a fabric backing. Although I begin with one inch squares for my basecoat, after that I apply up to seven additional layers to develop the nuances needed to suggest form and subject. The finished product is best viewed at a distance of six feet or more. I call the completed pieces hummingbird art after the myth that hummingbirds were made using the scraps after all the other birds were created.
