When I was growing up the first thing I remember was I wanted to be like my daddy. He was strong and not afraid of anyone or anything or so I thought. In all I did I tried to show him I could do it. My idea was to show him I was "grown up". I wanted to be an adult and the sooner the better. Very likely many of you can relate to this as well. If you were a girl you probably wanted to be like your mother.
All the above assumes you had, or have, a good daddy or mother. I realize some of you did not. If you fit in that category I pray you will forgive them and move forward with your life. Let Christ take away all the bitterness and hatred. He will as you pray for those who have hurt you.
I see a thing happening all over America and I suppose it's happening all over the world. A lot of the movies are rated "Adults only". Some have a triple X rating meaning for "Adults only". Much of what is on TV is the same. Drinking of intoxicating beverages is for "Adults only". Most of the time when this is the rating they are in reality talking about sin. In many circles of this generation sin is not called sin.
In this generation, adultery and fornication isn't called sin; it's now called "A meaningful relationship". To some it's called "An alternate lifestyle". No longer is the sinner to blame; it was something their parents did. It's just in our genes! I talked to one mother whose son was a heavy drinker. She said it's not his fault because he has Indian blood in him? I have Indian blood in me as well and I am not a drinker! It's O.K. to tell a lie now because we don't want to hurt someone's feelings? We are told we must be "politically correct". What does God say about it, should be the only thing that matters to the ones who love Him.
If these are so-called "adult things", it's no wonder our children want to get involved as soon as possible. After all the desire of any young boy or girl is to be an adult. Have we forgotten, God said, "train up a child in the way he should go and when he is grown up he will not depart from it"? God gave them to us. He did not say let TV, school, or daycare train your children, you do it! Training starts when they are born and until they are on their own.
I don't like God being taken out of the schools but that doesn't take away our responsibility to our children. Parents, it's not the schools responsibility to tell your children about Jesus, it's yours!
The first responsibility of both parents is to have a living relationship with God Almighty through Jesus Christ. He must be in your heart. Then and then only can you teach them what really matters. All need a good education and good common sense but none of that matters as much as being ready to die. Walk through any graveyard and you will find many that died young. Where these spend eternity will depend largely on what their parents taught them. (I'm not speaking of babies here.) In my humble opinion no one is ready to live until they are ready to die. Only through Jesus Christ can any one be ready for that.
Is it really an adult thing to sin? Could it be that we love sin more than we love God? May I ask you a question? If you know something is a sin, why do you keep on doing it? Stop using excuses, why? Those of us who are in Christ, sin shall not have authority over us. Christ set us free. Are we going to go back to what we were before? Why?
I don't know about you, but I had a liberty to sin anytime I desired before I received Christ as my Savior. Now I have a liberty to leave sin alone because Jesus Christ delivered me from the authority of sin. Anything that has no authority over me cannot rule me; unless I submit. I choose to submit to The Lord and let Him rule in my life. Jesus Christ is Lord!
