Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (KJV)
The Word of God is quick, alive and powerful. No knife can be as sharp or as penetrating as the Word of God. The Word will get right down into your soul and spirit. It will divide the evil from the good. The Word of God will get right into your mind and know what you are thinking!
Sad to say most of the preaching and teaching of today is causing the people of God to go to sleep spiritually. The message is that God is going to bless you, nothing for you to do, no matter what you do. A lot of the message content, of today, is mostly self-help, motivational, and physiological at best. I would urge you to read the bible for yourself. What does it say about what you are doing? God is not going to judge us by what our church, pastor, teacher or denomination says but rather by His word. Are we in Christ and Him in us and are we doers of His words?
Let’s look at some of what the bible says about our life style. See Revelations 21:8 below and we will find a partial list of those who will be forever cast into a lake of fire. (Hell)
Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake, which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. (KJV)
Do we have a lifestyle of fear coming out of an unbelieving heart? Is He truly Lord of our life? If so why are we afraid? Are we living an abominable life style? A life that is lukewarm or not in line with the word of God. A murderer can be one who, with their mouth or deeds, causes a young Christian to leave God and die. Our words or deeds can bring life or death.
Does our life style include sexual relations with someone we are not married to? Has sex become something you buy or sell with deeds or money? There is spiritual adultery as well. The word of God is the seed of God. Listening to and receiving words that are not of God is seed of the devil. That is spiritual adultery! In one place Jesus told Peter to “get behind me satan” because Peter was saying something contrary to what God said.
Are we reading or listening to something that a “fortune teller” says? Are we letting some thing, or person, other than the word of God rule in our life? Where do we get advice on how to live? The word of God should be the lamp to our feet and the light to our path.
Do we have anything in our life that is ahead of God so that it becomes an idol? Will we sacrifice to pay for a home, boat, automobile or anything and not give in tithe and offerings to God’s house? We will sacrifice to what is uppermost in our life!
What about lying (making statements intended to deceive)? Do we guard our lips and always tell the truth? What about our life styles are we living a lie? Is there any such thing as a “white lie”, “gray lie”, or “black lie”? Are they not all lies no matter the color? Have we come clean with God and let Him deliver us from all lying?
Please, Dear Reader, notice these or not suggestions that would be good if we did them. The word of God says these, who do these things, will be cast into the lake of fire! Let me urge you, if any of these are in your life, repent, ask for and receive forgiveness, before it’s everlastingly too late! Where we spend eternity depends on it!
If you are attending a church that doesn’t preach a penetrating, cutting word that delivers and sets free from sins that bring death, run from it and find one that does. No sin is so big that Jesus can’t deliver you from it. Ask Him in faith believing and you will receive!
