Christian Service – Part Two. (Please read part one first)

1 Cor 3:9  For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.
2 Cor 6:1  We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.

While the first level of service is work for God, the second level of service is, we are invited to work with God. If you went on a new job and an expert gave you the option of reading a manual or having personal training, which would you choose? I know I would choose on the job training!

While the 1st level of service is in the outer court, this level is in the inner court.

Mat 11:28  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Mat 11:29  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

This is the way to get out of frustration, restlessness, always wondering if you are doing what our Lord desires. Get yoked with our Lord. Yokes are for working, not just for resting. What we are looking at here is not inactivity but rather directed activity. We are learning to be effective in what we do. Yoked we began to learn of Him, not about Him!

One of the 1st things we learn is the yoke is too big for us. It's His yoke. Working with Him will stretch us and cause us to grow up quickly. Here we are not dealing with human needs, we are dealing with God. Here we must learn to stand tall in faith.

Next we learn, when He moves we better move with Him. There will not be time to pray about it. No time to call friends and see what they think about it. Just move as He moves or your neck will hurt!

We also learn there is a time to stop. Sometimes we get set in our ways and don't want to change. We can't stay that way and keep yoked with Him. We must change. Sometimes the old plan just won't work but God has a better plan. Just let Him lead.

Next we learn when He eats or drinks so must we. There is an ideal time to pray or study God's word. Prayer is so easy when the Spirit of God directs it. When the Spirit directs our study time we will learn much quicker. Sometimes we need to let the Holy Spirit break our set routine and let Him be our guide.

Another thing we learn is when the Lord turns we must turn with Him. God didn't lead Israel in a straight line. They followed “the cloud by day and the fire by night.” We have the Holy Spirit to guide us. Yoked with Him we go with Him.

Still another thing we learn is the same tool is not needed each day. Working for God we get into a rut and think we should plow, sow or do the same thing each day. Yoked we find there is a time to plow, a time to plant, a time to water and a time to harvest. We don't always know what to do but He always does. Yoked we will know.

We also find there is a time to rest. When He rests so must we. Directed rest is just as important as directed activity. Sometimes the most spiritual thing we can do is to get alone with our family and rest. Many homes are broken up because some didn't do this. When He says it is time to lay down in green pastures, by all means do it.

How are we going to learn of Him if we don't take His yoke upon us?
