Ephesians 2:20–22 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: in whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. John 5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. (All scripture taken from the KJV.)
Now we are born again, by the Spirit of God, through faith in Jesus Christ. No longer are we, according to the Spirit, Gentiles or Jews. We are in the world but not of it, not sinners but rather called saints. Now we are called, Sons of God.
There is a statement going around today that's not Bible oriented. “We are just a sinner saved by grace.” We were sinners, dead in sin, but now we are made alive in Jesus Christ. As He is so are we in this present world. He is not and was never a sinner. Paul said he was a sinner but later he said, “shall we continue in sin that grace may abound. God forbid, how can we that are dead to sin live any longer therein?” If it were not possible to quit sinning, why would Jesus tell two to, "Sin no more"?
If we are in Christ we are a new creation old things have passed away. Our Lord did not create us a new sinner. We were that already! He changed us to be like Him. We are flesh of His flesh and bone of His bone. In Him we move and live and have our very being. He did it and all He asks of us is to walk in newness of life. Walk, talk, think and live like Sons of God in this present world.
Why is it so easy for us to identify with what we were and have a hard time identifying with what we are in Christ? As long as we have a mind set that we are just sinners we will continue in sin. This is a carnal mind walking in the flesh. In the flesh we cannot please God. (Romans 8:8). As a man thinks in his heart so is he. We must learn to think different. We have the mind of Christ if we are in Him. Let us learn to think as He thinks. Romans 12:1–2 explains this to us.
According to the flesh I am of my daddy here on earth but according to the spirit I am of my Father in Heaven. Any child has the blood of his father flowing in his veins. I am a child of The King and have His royal blood flowing through my veins! As I walk in this light the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses of all sin. Let's learn to identify with our Father in Heaven. We are of the family of God.
We are being built as a dwelling place for God. God doesn't dwell in a place full of sin. Jesus Christ is the chief corner stone. The corner stone of a building is of utmost importance because it holds all the building in place. No building will stand with out a proper corner stone.
We are talking about a Holy Ghost building. On this foundation we are the temple of God. This is a building not made with hands; the Spirit of God shapes it. We must submit ourselves to the leading of the Spirit of God. Those that are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God.
Those that are led by the Spirit of God are no longer in the flesh but rather in the Spirit. (Romans 8:9). It is of utmost importance for us to realize this for if we walk after the flesh we will die. If we through the spirit do mortify the deeds of the flesh we will live. (Romans 8:13). We are to walk as Christ walked. We have the same Spirit in us, do we not? If we don't have His spirit we are not His. (Romans 8:9)
Romans 6:16 “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness.” God expects His children to be obedient to His word. Now that we have been set free are we going to once again yield to sin and become a servant of sin and die again?
Do I believe that I live without sin? The answer is no. There are things that I see now as sin that I had no idea were sin when I first received Christ. When we realize we have sinned we should repent, confess it, forsake it, and receive forgiveness then walk free of it. 1 John 3:8 says "He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil." Sin should never be taken lightly. We are not of the devil, we are of God. Sin to the spirit man is like cancer to the body. We don't want even a little of it!!
Only by being obedient can we continue in
right standing with God. He said, "I set before you blessing and
cursing.” Make your choice. I give you the free will to choose. It's your
call. Will it be blessing or cursing? All the promises of God, to bless us, are conditional on us becoming
doers of His word. He watches over His word to bring it to pass.
Let's choose to be blessed!
