Casey's Origin

Going to Vietnam was a great experience for Sharon and I, just the fact of us traveling half way around the world for a baby was just unbelievable. The plane trip over was a 24 hour flight with our first stop in LA to meet up with the rest of the parents and Jack our agent from Int'l Family Services. We left LA and didn't stop until we arrived at Kansai International Airport in Osaka, Japan, (a man-made island built on sinking seabed 3 miles from shore) about 12 hours later. We we're there for about an hour while the plane refueled, walked around the predetermined path around the airport, everything was closed since it was very early in the morning. From there we left for Bangkok, Thailand, another 10 hours on the plane. When we arrived in Bangkok it was 1:00 in the morning and had to be up to catch another flight at 7:00 am for Hanoi. We caught a cab and we're headed to the Swiss Lodge in downtown Bangkok, the drivers over there are some of the worst drivers I ever drove with. Lucky for some of us, right before we went to bed we found out that there wasn't enough available space for all of us on the flight, so about 6 of us got to sleep in and we caught a later flight to Hanoi.
After breakfast we left for the airport to fly to Hanoi, arriving in Hanoi was an experience.
It was a little airport with no modern anything, once we landed, they pulled a stairway up to the plane and we walked down the steps to the tarmac and boarded an old bus which took us to the terminal building. Once in the terminal, it was like walking back in time to the 1960's.
