The Highland Fling is a traditional dance brought from Scotland as a victory dance. It is performed for the first time each year during the Homecoming Assembly and at the Homecoming game that evening. It is then only performed a few other times per year at special events.

The Highland Fling uniform is a traditional Scottish Kilt; with fitted top, authentic horse hair spoarn, tam and sash. The difficult dance is done to the tune of "Keel Row." All of our community stands and claps to the performance. Only six Varsity squad members are allowed to learn and perform this dance and then pass it on to the new group the next year.
Usually six members are selected to carry on the tradition of the Fling and they are expected to perform with pride and dignity. The member will check out the uniform and be responsible for its care and return. The squad member will provide their own leotard, socks and shoes to complete the uniform. They will also learn and perfect the actual dance that is to be performed to the community and school. This will take some time on extended practices. It is an honor to receive this placement.
