The Golden Eagle Trail is an 8.9 mile circuit trail, located 2.9 miles north of Camel on Rout 414. The trail was constructed by the Bureau of Forestry and the Waterdale Youth Group. Because of the rugged topography, location s for overnight camping along the trail and extremely limited. For this reason, overnihgt camping is not permitted along the Golden Eagle Trail.
I started the trail right up from the parking area rather than walking down the road to start at the 0.0 mark. Seemed more logical to me.
I did this trial the day Spindle & I did the West Rim Trail. Figured I was driving up from Harrisburg and had the time. I stayed at the Pettecoat Junction Campground in Cedar Run. Nice camping with shower. Ate dinner at the Blackwell Hotel. Good food but a bit pricy for the area.
