Cal’s Corner

Why do I care so much about this subject? After our local newspaper printed an erroneous story from a local Christian radio station that Madlyn O'Hare was trying to get Christians off the radio, I felt a strong conviction about why some people get a poor opinion of Christians. Even though she's been dead several years, this hoax continues to circulate on occasion.
Faith in God is one thing, but being naive and passing false information on is not His will. If we spread falsehood, it's a bad witness and violates God's word to "Test everything. (2 Thes. 5:21)"
So now if I have a sense about something being wrong, I go to the sites below and search to see if they have a file on it. Be a saint, and do the same!

“Check Out That Email Before Passing It On”
Dear Friends,
Don’t be snookered (or snooker others) with one of the many Internet hoaxes!
Check out those special warnings, “specially selected deals,” and heart touching
appeals for assistance. Always check out mailings that are "wild," unable to be tracked
back to the source easily, have been passed along through several "forwardings,"
or just plain smell a bit -
Please don't pass them along until you do so. If you do, it makes you look foolish
or worse. It is spreading a falsehood -
I have several reliable web sites listed below that I go to to check out anything that doesn't seem right. Two of them focus on hoaxes involving believers.
