Greater Control
Optimal Pressable Ceramic (OPC tm;) addresses the
esthetic considerations of all-ceramic restorations with a shaded
translucent pressed core and layering porcelains.
The light scattering properties of this combination of materials
enhances the ability to mimic natural dentition. The powders allow
layering of translucencies, giving the options and flexibility to
provide a restoration that fulfills shade prescription and imitates
the hue, chroma, value and translucency necessary to create vital
restorations.
Convincing cosmetic dentistry depends upon controlling levels of
translucency throughout the restoration, which are notoriously
difficult to achieve. One reason is that both the core and the
powders are made from similar ceramic materials and
color-coordinated to compliment each other.
Since Optimal is an all-ceramic restoration, it takes full advantage
of the natural translucency of the glass, which results in the
lifelike simulation of natural dentition. The system is
conveniently matched to the Vita Lumin shade guide.
High Flexural and Compressive Strength.
With Optimal, Jeneric Pentron has increased strength and reliability
by reducing the size of the leucite crystal and improving its
distribution without reducing the total crystalline content. This
gives it a compressive strength of 187,320psi and flexural strength
of over 23,000psi.
The Optimal System is the newest generation of
ceramic powder, stemming from Jeneric/Pentron's eight years of
research, development and clinical success with high-strength
leucite based ceramic products.
Unlike a few other all-ceramic systems, Optimal is a
bondable material, giving the entire tooth an additional measure of
strength.
