"After painting portraits for thirty-five years, I’m now concentrating on my own work. As a painter, I express myself visually, so it will always be unsatisfactory to try to explain it in words. Santayana said, 'Art is the response to the demand for entertainment, for stimulation of our own senses and imagination.' I hope my paintings will fulfill that demand for the viewer." Bob learned painting from his father and uncle who had formal education in art and there began the appreciation and continuation of family painters. After time in the service, Bob attended the New York Institute of Photography for Film for motion picture production under the G.I. Bill offered to servicemen. He held jobs as a messenger and worked for a printing company while in New York. April of 2004 he participated in ArtWalk for the first time to publicly show his work. June 2004: Honorable Mention and People’s Choice Award, Lancaster Museum of Art during the Open Art Award Exhibition. October/November 2004 a two-person exhibit at Central Market Art Gallery. June, 2005: "Marickdaag" (Market Day) charcoal paintings, Central Market Art Gallery. April, 2006: new work displayed at Autohaus, Lancaster.
