August 30, 2006

I'm done with radiation!  And, I've been so happy about it that I haven't gotten around to updating my website.  I've had fun being free from all of the cancer stuff for a while.

Radiation wasn't a big deal, but it was time-consuming.  Every weekday, I had to leave work at 9:10 to be at the hospital by 9:40.  The treatment took about 5 - 10 minutes.  Changing clothes and waiting my turn used up another 10 - 15 minutes.  Then, back to work at 10:30 or so.  After 6-1/2 weeks, it gets old.  I'm very glad to be done.

Last week, I was able to try the triple dose of Herceptin.  It went fine.  That means that I don't have to go back to the hospital for treatment for three whole weeks.  Whew!  I confirmed with my doctor that I should expect to continue the Herceptin treatment until the end of February.  But, since I'm experiencing no side effects, it's almost like having a normal life again.

My hair is getting long enough that my cowlicks are showing.  It isn't long enough to do anything with though, so it's still easy to care for.  It's about 25% gray, 25% the familiar dark brown color I was born with, and about 50% dirty gray/brown.  Otherwise, it hasn't changed a bit.
