I've Been Ported

February 16, 2005

Today, I had my surgery to implant the medi-port. After having another IV put in my hand, I think I'll be glad that I have the port. The anesthetic was "local with sedation" instead of general and was much easier to waken from. I think I'll sleep well tonight, but I don't feel out of it like I did after general anesthesia. I plan to work tomorrow. I know most of you think I'm nuts, but I love my work and it's helpful to have "normalcy" right now.

In preparation for my first chemo and Herceptin therapy session on Friday afternoon, the 24th, I went wig shopping with a friend last weekend. We had a great time – we laughed a bunch! With any luck, my hair will only thin and won't completely fall out, but I'm prepared with a couple of wigs. And, I'm getting my hair cut shorter this weekend so that I have a better chance of holding on to more of it. We'll see.

Thanks for all of your support!

Cindy
