 About the Composer

Samuel Harry Chabrow was born on March 20, 1990 and is a lifelong resident of Maplewood, NJ.  He began studying alto sax in 2nd grade and now also plays tenor sax, string bass, piano, clarinet, trumpet, and guitar.  Sam began composing in 7th grade and studies composition privately with noted composer Robert Aldridge.

Now a sophomore at Columbia High School in Maplewood, Sam has been a performing member of the school’s Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Orchestra, Marching Band, and Brass Ensemble.

In 2005, Sam served as Assistant Musical Director for the production of Ruthless at Long Lake Camp For The Arts, where he also performed in the Pit Orchestra for Pajama Game and in the camp’s Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble.

Millions of viewers saw and heard Sam play his saxophone on a segment of ABC-TV’s World News Tonight with Peter Jennings in 2004.

Sam owns an extensive collection of musical theater CDs and also enjoys acting. He has appeared in school and camp productions of The Wiz, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Guys and Dolls, Wizard of Oz, and Sweeny Todd, as well as a number of musical reviews.  He also enjoys politics, history, and reading The New York Times.

Looking to the future, Sam hopes to pursue a career in music.

About the Music

Sam composes using Finale notation software.  Instead of writing notes on a sheet of music paper, Sam composes directly into Finale, indicating the instruments.  The software then “plays” back the music, which can be saved as the .wav files you hear when you click the music links on this page.
