Did you know:
Help us put an end to such unjust policies by fighting breed specific legislation and promoting a positive, accurate image of Pit Bulls. In addition to training dogs (see below), the CRA also offers FREE classes for Pit Bulls and their owners. Such classes promote responsible dog ownership, which helps all Pit Bull owners by, hopefully, reducing dog bite incidents that make headlines and lead to breed-specific legislation. OUR WORK TAKES MONEY! So, In addition to our educational activities, the CRA also offers a GUIDE for dog owners. This guide will tell you what you MUST know about homeowner's insurance, Beware of dog signs, and much more! Your purchase keeps us fighting! This GUIDE discusses INSURANCE concerns, issues surrounding BEWARE OF DOG signs, and other useful information. We sell this guide for $10, normally, but for a limited time you can get it for $4.99! Your buying this guide helps us raise funds to continue our activities (provide a valid email address and the guide will be delivered to you electronically after your payment is processed). Just click the BUY NOW button above. Because this is an electronic document, purchases are nonrefundable. We organize events to educate the public about these breeds, and we're currently recruiting for an all bully-breed flyball team! (So, email us if you're in the Sacramento area and interested in joining). In addition, we give free or low cost obedience classes to Pit Bull owners, visit schools to present seminars on dog safety, and organize public events that promote a positive image of Pit Bulls. The Chako Rescue Association for the American Pit Bull Terrier will
soon implement a program to find, train, and place American Pit Bull Terriers
and American Staffordshire Terriers to be used as service dogs to assist
disabled persons. The CRA also fights breed discrimination and sponsors
activities to educate the public about the breed. We also urge anti-bsl
laws and try to promote accurate representations of Pit Bulls in the media. Dogs eligible for our program must not be older than three years.
They must be confident, mellow, friendly dogs with modest drive and
curiosity. Because of the very special nature of our new program, we
no longer accept dogs that are dog-aggressive. We never accept dogs
that have demonstrated aggression toward people. Each of our dogs is trained for general mobility assistance (i.e.,
picking up dropped items, retrieving the phone, etc.) We do not train
guide dogs for the blind. If you are interested in acquiring a service
dog to assist you (or someone you know) with a disability, please
contact us. We do not charge a set fee for our service dogs. Rather,
we evaluate each potential owner to see whether we have a dog that
will prove a good match. Then, we go over the prospective owner's financial
ability and come to an appropriate agreement. Hence, under our program,
no one is turned away due to financial considerations unless the person
is so impoverished, he or she cannot afford to properly care for a
service dog. If you are interested in submitting a dog for our program, or you
need a service dog, please email us. We take in and place very few
dogs in a year, so please understand if we cannot accommodate you.
