Gevurah or might is the left arm of the emotional division of the 10 sefirot. It renders judgement and balances
chesed as we experience the "outside world". With chesed, we draw others near with our lovingkindness and with
gevurah we exercise judgement and are able to turn away those who are undeserving. The Kabbalah teaches that only
by the power of gevurah can chesed work in the world.
The Kabbalah also teaches that these two arms or hands, combined, form our reality. And, as the left arm repels and
the right arm draws near, we continuously reevaluate and thereby are able to rectify that reality. This is how we
are redeemed and unified and in the end, this is the secret of the resurrection of the dead.
