Chapter 94 meets the first Sunday of each month from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Suburban Hospital, 8600 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, MD 20814. Parking is free.

Guest Speaker: Kath Boyd David, Communications Director, The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI), the primary professional medical society for the physicians who diagnose and treat "nose-to-toes" cardiovascular disease, through catheter-based procedures, including angioplasty and stenting.

     - Since 1996 the Mary M. Amato Education Award has supported medical students nationwide. For detailed information about this Endowment Fund please visit the Mended Hearts national website. Once there, select "How You Can Help", and then select "Endowment Fund" and then "Education Award". Our very own Joe Amato helped to establish this fund in the loving memory of his wife Mary. Joe was our Chapter President from 1977 to 1980 and the MHI National President from 1985 to 1989.

     - The Sydney and Helen Shuman Nurse Recognition Award was established to show appreciation to the nurses who make a positive difference by their skill, care and presence. Syd Shuman, a very active member of Mended Hearts, served as our Chapter President from 1990 to 1992, was an Asst. Mid-Atlantic Regional Director and has served on several nation committees.

     - Heart-to-Heart - A support group for individuals coping with heart disease. Spouses are welcome. Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Cardiac Rehab Center, 9715 Medical Center Dr., Siute 130, Rockville, MD. Meets the third Thursday of every month, 7-8 p.m. Cost: FREE.
